What was the beginning pint for your music career? How did it all start?
Hi Metal Heads forever readers. It started with Anouk (The Legendary Princess) and I (Commander Bob) coming from very different backgrounds. We met between two centuries and decided to mix them and form Victor Sierra. We have had other members along the road but we finally decided to go on the two of us. Actually not quite true, because we have a jolly ectoplasm on stage, in charge of the computers stand behind us. You can call him Piløt X-Ray.
Was there any bumps on the road? What kind of challenges did you have to deal with?
Is that a joke? Everything has been a challenge since the very beginning. Every step you take as a band is difficult. But look. We’re not rookies. Some aspects are easier some are harder. In the end being a musician is difficult. But I have always been aware of that. Modern times run fast. You’ve got to adapt. It’s challenging but at least you can’t rest on your laurels. I’ve never accepted failure as an answer.
What was the most fulfilling and satisfying moment so far?
First times are always the best. I would say: the first time we played in the US and the first in the UK.
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
I would say: go listen to it and make yourself your own opinion. Then if you like our music let’s talk about it. We’re influenced by many things. I’ve crossed various musical trends. When we met the Steampunk world it was like shoes waiting on the road and perfectly fitting our feet. I guess it shows in our music.
What is your creative process like?
It comes at some point and I can’t help but rush to my guitar or my computer. I’ve got a cloud of notes and words and ideas coming up to my mind. I can hear them playing and it doesn’t stop. It can even be painful sometimes if I’m driving or such. Some might think I’m a lunatic when they hear me humming melodies I record on my mobile phone.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
I don’t know except we needed help and we are so happy to work now with Damian and Deadfall Management. These days, a musician must be an artist, a manager , a PR, a booker, a roadie and always present on socials. All at once. It’s really complicated. In the end, you have to adapt everyday.
If you were asked to give a piece of advice to upcoming bands, what would that be?
Never give up!
What has been the best performance of your career so far?
Our first show in the UK at The Asylum (Lincoln). Playing on the other side of the Channel, where it all begun, was a dream for us. It was chaotic, incredibly stressing. My amp died as soon as I switched it on at the soundcheck. I had to play without it. A real drag. As I started the show in a highly nervous state, and it drove me to shout: Good evening Great Britain! And they all cheered us up. It was quite emotional. Not our best gig for sure but the most memorable one.
If you didn’t become a musician, what would you be doing now?
I just wouldn’t be. Sorry for the blunt answer.
What is new with the band at the moment? What are you currently working on and would like to share with the world?
We are to release a new single soon with Deadfall management’s help. The song is about danger. I didn’t think of the current state of the world, but it will fit in. In my opinion. Thank you for the nice interview.
