On March 21st, avant-death metal trio Imperial Triumphant will release their sixth full-length, Goldstar, via Century Media Records. Their most instant and evocative work to-date, Goldstar reins in their musical wanderlust with a newfound focus that the band has only hinted at with past works.

There’s a murmuring amidst the monoliths of New York City as the sounds of the megalopolis churn below. The city becomes the sound of a human engine that throbs like an atrophying heartbeat; the decaying city of the future in Fritz Lang’s Metropolis. That’s the grandiosity that New Yorkers, IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT have found equal amounts of beauty and horror within. With their latest release, Goldstar, the masked triumvirate continues their exploration of the urban and arcane. The band has found inspiration in the sound of metal pushed to its darkest extremes, gilded, art deco temples, and looming cityscapes.

Imperial Triumphant comments: “Journey into sensuality and primal desire, where the flesh becomes a temple, and the hunt for passion unfolds like an ancient ritual. The ‘bell rings out,’ a summoning call to transcend ordinary pleasures and enter the Pleasuredome, a place where the divine and the animalistic merge.”

It was a pleasure to have this chat with Zachary on Goldstar. Check out the Interview below.

Your 6th Studio Album “Goldstar” to be out on March 21, can you please let me know the Songwriting and production behind the album?

‘Goldstar’ was born from new boundaries we placed upon ourselves. I always felt that great art comes from thinking outside of the box. However, you need boundaries or a metaphorical box to help that creation. Whether that comes from limiting the song length to 5 mins or recording the entire album in 5 days, restrictions push the artist’s creativity.

Was there any concept or theme that’s goes behind Goldstar?

The idea was sort of inspired by old cigarette advertisements. This idea that something advertised as cool, sexy and glamorous will actually kill you and rot you from the inside. Very much like Imperial Triumphant.

A great cover artwork on the album, Would you like to tell me about the artwork?

We discussed this idea to create a vintage cigarette ad for Goldstar brand cigarettes. I love vintage advertisements. After a few sketches we came up with an idea for a giant robotic woman walking through a great metropolis.

9 Mindblowing Technical death with heavy black influnences, each and everysong beautifully crafted with killer vocals and awesome musicianship, a great album for 2025, as a creator how do you guys feel about the outcome?

Very excited. This material is very fun to play and the response has been over the moon.

You have worked With Dave Lombardo on Pleasuredome along with Tomas Haake and Yoshiko Ohara on New York City, can you tell me how it was working with them on this album?

Incredible to work with such great talents. Everyone brings something special and fresh to the music.

Have you planned something big on the album release day?

We will be on the road with Mayhem for the Decibel Magazine Tour on release day. We will be shredding through North America and delivering the chaos firsthand.

You are touring with Mayhem soon, are there other big world touring in 2025?

Yes! Looking at a world tour this year. Many things are moving behind the scenes.

Founded in 2005 with 6 Full length albums, 5 EP, A Live album and much more, How has this journey been for you so far?

Lifelong journey and it is great because now the vibe with the band is the strongest. It’s a testament to perseverance. Nothing has been easy and nothing has fallen into our laps. We work hard for everything and we are grateful for every step forward.

Would you like to share some of the best moments of Imperial Triumphant?

Making it onto the cover of Decibel Magazine was definitely a huge moment for me especially as someone who has been reading the mag since I was a teen.

Have you planned for some cool merch for the fans?

Yes! We have fantastic merch and more great things coming!

Finally any message for the fans around the world?

Buy Goldstar! Stream Goldstar! Listen to Goldstar! Die for Goldstar! We hope to see you soon.
