Gia G, whose real name is Gia Federico, is a guitarist from Boston (Massachusetts, USA). After releasing several singles since 2013, she released her debut EP “Cosmic Wave” in January 2022. She has an impressive number of almost 200,000 followers on Facebook. Despite this, she is probably only little known in this country. Reason enough to ask her about it.

Hello Gia. I’m Rainer and I write for Keep on Rocking and Metalheads Forever Magazine. Thank you for letting me do this interview with you. How are you doing?

Hi Rainer, You’re very welcome! Nice meeting you.

Despite the impressive number of Facebook followers, you are little known outside your home country. Please introduce yourself briefly.

Sure, I’m Gia Federico, born in Somerville (Ma). Signed to Sliptrick Records in 2020. I am a female Guitarist with my bands GIA G and Devil In The Mist. I have many endorsements, 19 at the moment.  4 internet Singles, tons of internet and college airplay and commercial airplay, been in very big mags around the world, Metal Hammer, Decibel Mag, Legacy Mag, Rock Hard Mag etc.

Do you have any musical idols?

Eddie Van Halen / Van Halen, Ronnie James Dio, Ozzy / Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, Aerosmith, Elvis, The Beatles, Eagles, Frank Sinatra, Roy Orbison, and many more.

Your stage name “Gia G” reminds me of another great guitarist – Konstantinos Karamitroudis aka Gus G. How did you come up with your stage name?

It’s actually my middle name, my middle name begins with a G, had nothing to do with Gus G LOL.

The EP “Cosmic Wave” was released in 2022. Before that, you released various singles. Where do you get the inspiration for your songs?

Oh, many different places, some off the top of head, my emotions on that particular day, as I’m writing something, it is I move along with it.

How was the response to your debut EP?

Awesome, biggest release ever.

So far, the songs have been pure instrumentals, with your guitar playing taking centre stage. Will there also be songs with vocals in the future?

I have released 5 songs and music videos with my band Devil In The Mist, with a vocalist.

Two years have now passed since the EP was released. Are you working on new songs? Will there be a full-length album soon?

Yes, very true, currently I’m on Hiatus with music and playing, I haven’t picked up my guitar since the beginning of the year. I will at some point release a full length and return, but can’t say when at the moment, I needed to step away to pursue business and continue my equity trading business and run a real estate business. So, music is not in my picture. Plus, I needed to step away from music, I got huge compliments and so on, and endorsements. But also, a lot of enemies that have held my music career back, companies and various mags, labels, and guitar players, mostly in the tiny genre of shred guitar. Got to a point where I was wasting my time, and I took a step back, to see the whole picture.

During the recording of “Cosmic Wave” you had the support of Mark George (drums) and Paul Angle (bass). Are they also on stage during live performances?

Yes, they are.

I found a reference to the band Devil In The Mist on your homepage. I only found information about this band on Bandcamp – three singles and an EP, the most recent from 2020. What’s next for this band?

The band is no longer together or going forward, I ended it, due to like I was saying in the answer of me doing a full length. this situation, was within with Devil. I just got sick of doing it over and over, wears you down after a while, wasting time and energy on useless people.

How do the Gia G project and the band Devil In The Mist differ musically?

With Gia G i could do more styles and experimental music.

Thank you once again for the interview. Is there anything else you would like to say to the fans at the end?

You’re very welcome! Thank you for supporting me the last 10 years. xoxoxo
