What was the beginning point for your music career? How did it all start?

We, as the band you hear and see now, started recording and releasing music in 2019. However, the story of Blitz Union began way earlier. In fact, even during the time our parents were teenagers themselves.

Initially, it was not music at all what put us together. Our paths crossed because of our common “research/ obsession”. This was later on the main impulse to found Blitz Union.

Was there any bumps on the road? What kind of challenges did you have to deal with?

I think the biggest challenge was the launch of Blitz Union itself. At the very beginning, there were a few doubts and uncertainties. We were not sure if we were ready for this already … But during the first recording and brainstorming sessions, we started to be more and more confident about our decision and our goal. But then, before the first song & video “Revolution” was released, we had had a clear vision of where we wanted to head.

Other than that I cannot think of any major challenge since then.

What was the most fulfilling and satisfying moment so far?

I will follow-up to the previous question a bit – For me, personally, the most satisfying moment was the actual launch of Blitz Union. Not saying there have not been any memorable moments – like two support shows for the legendary German band “Oomph!” or the moment, we first watched our video for the song “Plastic” – but still, the launch itself was really special for me. I am so proud of ourselves that we made it.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

Our sound consists of heavy riffs, energy-driven rock elements and catchy EDM hooks. We call it EDM-Rock. This fusion became very natural for us as we enjoy the freedom during the creation process. There are so many options for how you can approach a song by combining those two styles – it’s definitely fun.

What is your creative process like?

I usually bring some lyric ideas with a very simple instrumental. If everyone likes it, we start the arrangement together. Once the main structure of the song is done and agreed, Schtorm (bassist, producer) starts to work on the final production of the song. In regards to the topics of our songs and the inspiration itself – It is directly connected to the overall story of Blitz Union. As mentioned in one of my previous answers, there is this background “research” of a mysterious entity (“Mr.Blitz”?) which was actually the main reason for Blitz Union’s foundation. There were a lot of unusual events which happened to me which led to some kind of communication with this force. We are still learning about what it means and then soon, we will reveal how those events influenced our music …

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

Probably what I would like it to change in any industry/ sector – Conscious long-term cooperation, looking at the development of quality, potential and trust, instead of “whom I could use to profit from it as much as possible in the shortest possible time”

If you were asked to give a piece of advice to upcoming bands, what would that be?

I do not find myself in a position to give any advice here, furthermore I am not a that big fan of that kind of general advice. You know, everyone interprets things in a different way, based on their current mood, life situation etc. So I try to be careful with that.

What has been the best performance of your career so far?

As briefly mentioned in one of my previous answers. We had a really great time in “Kultur – und Eventzentrum Westand”, Braunschweig (Germany), where we had a chance to play two nights in a row as a support act for the legendary rock band “Oomph!”. There were about 2,000 people each night and they were amazing. The overall vibe was just unforgettable.

If you didn’t become a musician, what would you be doing now?

Well, I do not know. But I know what I would then not be doing for sure – music (Laughing).

What is new with the band at the moment? What are you currently working on and would like to share with the world?

You can expect new music and videos to be released regularly till this fall. Our next release is on July 23rd already.
Then we are going to reach the next milestone: our very first, full-length debut album which is in progress already. So, stay tuned!

On behalf of Blitz Union – thanks for having us here!
