Interview With Brian & Israel Of San Diego Metal Swap Meet

Since 2009, the San Diego Metal Swap Meet has brought a unique event to Southern California. The event provides a place for metal merchants to sell their clothing, art, CDs, vinyl, patches, and just about anything else heavy metal related. It also offers a DJ, playing everything from early heavy metal favorites, to obscure metal gems. This is not only a merchandise central event, but it is also a social event, where old friends meet, and new friends are made.

The San Diego Metal Swap Meet has a tradition of offering an all ages avenue for the younger crowd to experience the record store vibe of the 80’s and 90’s, while also seeing a well known live band, to close the event, all for a very affordable door fee.

The Gene Hoglan Experience, NightShadow, original Iron Maiden artist Derek Riggs and DJ Katon (Hirax) are the latest confirmed participants for the San Diego Metal Swap Meet that will take place on Saturday, October 15, 2022.

The event will be held at the Setting Sun Sake Brewing Company, 8680 Miralani Dr, San Diego, CA 92126.

Brian Parker and Israel Pelayo, promoters of the San Diego Metal Swap Meet have provided the following comments:

There are legendary metal drummers, and then there’s Gene Hoglan. What more can be said about someone who set the standard for thrash and death metal drumming? From his early years in the legendary Los Angeles thrash metal band Dark Angel, to his classic albums Individual Thought Patterns and Symbolic with the one and only Death. He also has worked with progressive guru Devin Townsend in solo albums, and with Strapping Young Lad. You may also recognize his work from Metalocalypse and the animated band Dekthlok, as well as Old Man’s Child, Forbidden, and the list goes on. You may recently Gene for drumming with the legendary bay area thrash metal band Testament.

I’m really excited to be a part of this year’s San Diego Metal Swap Meet. I’m planning an amazing show, where I’ll be covering material from throughout my career, plus there will be a number of surprises lined up as well. I’m looking forward to seeing everybody there, this is going to be a ton of fun!
