Hi, I am Kevin Grams, vocalist, guitar player and songwriter of MAGEFA.
Q: What was the beginning pint for your music career? How did it all start?
A: I started playing the guitar when I was 10 years old and evolved ever since.
In 2014 I joined Kai (drums) and our former bass player for a music project. We started experimenting with some genres and chosen to make death metal in 2016 and we renamed ourselves to MAGEFA which is the hebrew word for plague. I wrote the first demo “A peek into human bodies” and continued our journey to this exact point.
Q:Was there any bumps on the road? What kind of challenges did you have to deal with?
A: CoV was a real bump. Not only that we hadn’t any locations to play our bass player left in 2021 and also our high-rise bunker where we rehearsed closed for good. We did good though now that we have Andreas (bass guitar) and Nico (guitar) to complete our lineup.
Q: What was the most fulfilling and satisfying moment so far?
A: In my opinion it was the uk tour we had this year. Being abroad for music is something good to experience and there is much to learn in booking tours.
Q How would you describe the music that you typically create?
A: Death metal with an own twist.
Q: What is your creative process like?
A: Normally I write a foundation of a song and then we adjust and create parts together upon that base. When any work is done on that part I normally start writing my lyrics to it.
Q: If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
A: Payments from streaming plattforms is a big issue in these days. The artists don’t get paid well by that but you have to push the algorythym so more people can come to your new release. Everyone wins in that scenario but the artist itself.
Q: If you were asked to give a piece of advice to upcoming bands, what would that be?
A: Always focus on your strengths, eliminate your weaknesses. Whatever works for you.
Q: What has been the best performance of your career so far?
A: The best performance from my perspective was the first concert with the actual lineup in the Valhalla Club in Cologne. The whole place was on fire.
Q: If you didn’t become a musician, what would you be doing now?
A: Infinite possibilities of a life being worse. But maybe I would have more money by now.
Q: What is new with the band at the moment? What are you currently working on and would like to share with the world?
We are releasing another single on october 20th called “Bombs Over Europe”. Apart from that we are writing on new songs for a LP coming out late 2025. Connect with us on social media and streaming plattforms to be up to date when something comes up.
