What was the beginning pint for your music career? How did it all start?
The band was officially formed in 2021, when the first single “Dirty Game” was introduced on April 14. At that moment it was the only really complete song. But we had a lot of other ideas in process, and thanks to the listeners’ reactions, we devoted everything we could at the time to completing them. And on February 22, 2022, our debut album “Defeat All” with 12 tracks was released.
Was there any bumps on the road? What kind of challenges did you have to deal with?
The Metal Factory band did not have ideal entry conditions. Although some of us came from well-known Czech metal bands, we started from almost zero, all investments were only on our own shoulders and expectations from us were considerable. In addition, some of our former friends (musicians), obviously out of envy, started throwing sticks at our feet. This hurt us a lot, mainly because our singers (who have nothing to do with our former workplaces and anything else) were also exposed to slander and mistrust. But we believe this is over, we are all going our own way, and we have certainly not harmed anyone by allowing ourselves to make our own music, which was not entirely easy before.
What was the most fulfilling and satisfying moment so far?
We are really happy that a lot of recordings have been released this year, among which the Metal Factory (with CD “Defeat All”) will not be lost, despite the fact that the entry possibilities and market position were incomparable with others (which many consider an imaginary competitor). It’s unbelievable that a CD with a completely Czech production can (imaginary) match the records that the authors have mixed and mastered in the world’s leading studios for a lot of money, and then they wield this fact everywhere. Perhaps it is because cold perfection is boring in metal and a little spontaneity and humanity represents life as such.
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
We are a female – fronted metal band from Czech Republic with 2 singers. There are a total of 12 tracks on the debut album, some of them have a power – metal character, some are more melodic/symphonic metal and some are classic heavy metal songs. Most often our listeners classify us as power-metal band, but this is not the goal from our point of view – the CD is simply not purely power-metal. The CD is simply “metal factory” style (laugh). But in the future we may go in a more specific direction. We don´t rule it out.
What is your creative process like?
Write the basics of music and singing lines, continue in the details on the individual parts and complete the singing lines, write the text, change everything a few times and then start recording (laugh). And then some more production work with people we trust. However, at the really beginning of most songs there is typically a light vocal line, supplemented by a simple background.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
I didn’t share this opinion before, but thanks to the fact that I had the opportunity to play in one – I would cancel revival groups. Or at least I would forbid them to take royalties. Only true lovers would remain. It’s really easy to get used to playing for big money with minimal effort – you just need to be able to play your instrument. No composing, no big recordings, and your listeners already know your songs. Competition from entertainment and revival bands fundamentally demotivates bands that work with their own music. But what else is art about?
If you were asked to give a piece of advice to upcoming bands, what would that be?
Either do it properly or don’t do it, it could be a waste of time then. Don’t be limited by the failures, mistrust or envy of others who do not have the courage to do what you do.
What has been the best performance of your career so far?
Our first gig with CD release party was legendary. Full club, amazing audience, people singing our songs. Huge trust of fans who traveled several hundred kilometers for us. Fantastic start, this will be very difficult to overcome.
If you didn’t become a musician, what would you be doing now?
Everything we do at the moment makes sense, and if it weren’t so balanced, we wouldn’t value making music that much. But we would probably all be fully engaged in some interesting job or something else that makes sense. We definitely wouldn’t sit at home watching TV.
What is new with the band at the moment? What are you currently working on and would like to share with the world?
Very soon there will be new official music videos in the world. One to two videos will be created for songs that can be heard on the current CD. We have a new drummer for several months and we are already working on the preparation for the next recordings. We are convinced that we will all have something to look forward to.
