Distant Past is a traditional Heavy Metal Band founded in Switzerland in 2002 by Adriano (bass) as a studio project, former Emerald vocalist Jvo joined in 2014, turning it into a live band.
The band produces old-fashioned heavy Metal with no traces of modern sounds or synthesizers. Pure guitars, fast pounding drums, machine gun bass and high-pitched vocals, just like in the glory days.
These swiss metalheads treat every al bum like a piece of art: the cover has a visual meaning and the lyrics include quotes of famous poets & are deeply rooted in classic Heavy Metal imaginary: Aliens, Ancient Civilizations, Ghosts, War, Utopian Societies, Doomsday Predictions, Religion, Fantasy and old Sci-Fi Classics, bringing “old-school” headbanging feeling with a no-nonsense approach.
The Swiss heavy metal band Distant Past unleash their album, Solaris on November 8, for fans of classic, unfiltered heavy metal! Inspired by Stanislaw Lem’s haunting novel Solaris and Andrei Tarkowski’s film adaptation, this album dives deep into themes of memory, loss, and connection.
With Solaris, Distant Past delivers an undeniable homage to the roots of true heavy metal. This album is a perfect balance of epic anthems to sing along to and emotionally charged moments that resonate deeply.
Recorded in Switzerland, drum tracking, mixing, and mastering took place at Little Creek Studio under the direction of V.O. Pulver (known for his work with Gurd, Poltergeist, and Messiah). Meanwhile, Adriano Troiano handled the recording of bass, vocals, guitars, and additional elements at Kayfabe Studio.
It was a great pleasure to have the amazing Adriano Troiano on the Interview to speak on the amazing new album “Solaris” the journey, the future and much more if the plans of the band. Check out the complete coverage on the below YouTube video.
