What was the beginning point for your music career? How did it all start?
For me it was when I figured out that playing music in high school enabled me to do other things besides boring classes. That helped fuel a drive, along with the arm-hair chill inducing thing. Being able to inspire emotion Is a good muse
Were there any bumps on the road? What kind of challenges did you have to deal with?
The Bind was the core of a bigger band that had a habit of fluctuating through members. We have faced many challenges over our years of pushing on, right now the scene for original bands is a dismal thing in our immediate area. The current challenge is enough material to hold the night without just becoming a cover act
What was the most fulfilling and satisfying moment so far?
Being able to play for your families in a proper venue is very gratifying
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
High energy eclectic trio driven rock, maybe I’d just say “it’s really about having fun”
What is your creative process like?
We improvise music with each other to start a rehearsal, record it, and find the good stuff.
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
The constant channeling of the lowest common denominator, while seemingly refusing to fund actual art.
If you were asked to give a piece of advice to upcoming bands, what would that be?
Treasure your fans, life happens hard and fast
What has been the best performance of your career so far?
We played a radio show in Boston where we performed great, it sounded excellent, and was documented well. A totally different kind of playing and pre show nerves!
If you didn’t become a musician, what would you be doing now?
All three of us are family men, and have all used our hands working to build a life for ourselves. We have always been musicians, but it was never because we made money.
What is new with the band at the moment? What are you currently working on and would like to share with the world?
Our newest single is Swells! We just released it through SODEH records. The plan is to wrap up a current recording project and tune our show up to take out this spring!
Thanks! We’re the Bind
