Long running Adelaide five piece, Life Pilot have released their highly anticipated debut full length album.
The Self Titled album speaks on numerous themes; fear, doubt, frustration, self reflection, compulsions, night terrors, societal expectations and how these all play into personal connections and our interaction with the world around us.
It is a deeply personal record for the band members and lyrically, it is predominantly introspective with a focus on close relationships. It is a path mostly untrodden by the band until now. Now matured, Life Pilot are able to more personal and raw than ever before. Musically and sonically, the song forms are carefully designed and sculpted, modernising and evolving the band’s sound while keeping true to the rough sound the band has always leaned in to. With a definite mix of new and old elements from each prior release, it feels like a fully realised Life Pilot.
Visually Life Pilot have delivered multiple music videos for the albums three singles. All completely unique and different from each other. Mayflower encapsulates a sense of longing for those loved and left behind, while The Nerve featured an epic 15 minute video that is as funny as it is true. Dodgy promoters, inane conversations and frustrating band mates. And kicking it all off was Feeding An Illness filmed in South Australia’s “Z Ward for the criminally insane”

ABOUT LIFE PILOT
Brought together by their love of chaotic and noisy metalcore, Life Pilot write heavy, angry, frantic songs and not conform to any trends or bullshit. It’s this sincere honesty and ruthless disregard for convention that has forged Life Pilot’s reputation as a unique and awe inspiring act in a landscape of cookie cutter heavy artists.
Their music is carefully crafted and executed with masterful musicianship, but still maintaining a raw, unrelenting energy and all the brutality expected from their genre.
Known for their intense physical display, their live show is unparalleled. Life Pilot literally bleeds for their fans, leaving many broken stages, instruments and band members in their wake and more memorable moments in one set than you’ve had hot dinners.
To date the band has self released their 2012 Demo EP, the 2013 Compass Split record with Statues (WA), their Debut EP, High Noon in 2014 & Second EP “Too Hot For Killing” in 2017.
Two standalone singles, ‘Dark, Dark, Goose’ and ‘Pretty Like A Pistol’ were released in 2019.
These releases garnered much attention around the country from Triple J, Local Radio, Blunt Magazine, Channel V, RAGE, numerous blogs and street press outlets, as well as artist features in Australian Guitar and DrumScene magazine and finalist nods in the South Australian Music Awards for best music video.
Life Pilot has toured Australia multiple times in support of their numerous releases, sharing the stage with many legendary artists along the way. Every Time I Die, Hell Yeah, Converge, Norma Jean, Senses Fail, Kverletak & More, as well as performing at SoundWave Festival and showcasing at BIGSOUND.
The new, Self Titled album is an exploration into feelings of despair, struggle, and isolation, often reflecting on personal and societal issues. It critiques authority and societal norms, expressing disillusionment and frustration. Mental and emotional struggles are a constant thread in the lyrics, with mentions of addiction and escapism. Despite the darkness, there is a strong sense of rebellion and defiance. Through the music, the album invites you to confront life’s challenges head on and find solidarity in shared experiences.
