The power trio Löanshark hails from the Catalan capital Barcelona. Although founded in 2017 and with an unchanged line-up since then, only one EP (‘The Warning Sessions’, 2018) has been released to date. There have also been five singles. A full-length album is actually long overdue. Now the time has come, the debut ‘No Sins To Confess’ will be released in February. For this, a deal has been signed with the Greek label RPM (Reigning Phoenix Music). The ten tracks on this album include two new recordings of songs that were already featured on the EP. There is also a cover of ‘Open Fire’ by the English NWoBHM band Marseille from Liverpool.

With ‘Electric Shockin Waves’, the start is more than lively. The drums and guitar in particular drive singer Lögan Heads forward. In between, the tempo and rhythm change briefly. A true par force ride. ‘Machine Gunner’ is a little slower. Includes a great guitar solo. ‘The City Goes Fast’ starts with sirens wailing and then lives up to its title. Another high-speed Metal song. It’s the same with ‘Another Man In The Trunk’, ‘Backstabber’, ‘Wet n’ Wild’ and “Midnight Shooter”. Singer and guitarist Lögan Heads keeps driving himself with his riffs, assisted by the drums. And his guitar solos are very good. One small exception to the tempo chase is the aforementioned cover ‘Open Fire’. And the album ends just as it began. With the high-speed song ‘Heavy Metal Addicts’.

Despite the musical quality, you can’t deny that just putting the pedal to the metal is not enough for a very good rating. A little more variety would definitely be nice. This actually only comes from the outstanding guitar solos. These are also responsible for the rating I gave them. All in all, however, a successful debut album.
