King Roderic, the final monarch of the Visigothic Kingdom of Hispania, met his tragic end at the hands of the Muslim general Tariq ibn Ziyad during the Battle of Guadalete, a decisive conflict that marked the beginning of Muslim dominance over much of the Iberian Peninsula. As the Visigothic dynasty crumbled and Muslim rule took hold, Roderic’s heirs were driven into exile. Yet, the bloodline of Roderic endured, and the desire for vengeance simmered in the hearts of his descendants.

Roderic’s descendants, many of whom were integral to the Christian forces of the time, became the symbol of this relentless pursuit of retribution.
