Brighton three-piece MONOVOID bring a fresh approach to heavy music with a debut built on riffs, experimentation and years of shared musical experience. MONOVOID release their debut album, Dissolving the Brain, on Friday 27th November, with a new video for Ruinous Belief arriving on Friday 20th November. For now, check out their last video for Conspirator, here –
Formed in Brighton in 2024, Tom Humphrey, Brian Thomas and Guillaume Croizon came together with a simple aim: to get back to playing the heavy music they had once fallen in love with, while using everything they had learned through years of playing, writing and recording. Their music pulls from Mastodon’s progressive heaviness, Meshuggah’s rhythmic complexity, Converge’s aggression and Gojira’s weight, while drawing on a much wider range of heavy music. The point has never been to fit neatly into one genre, but to combine the elements they enjoy into something that feels natural to the three of them.
There is plenty of history behind the new name. The members have been playing together for around 20 years, previously working on projects including Lithurgy and Milk White Throat. After bringing Milk White Throat to an end in 2023, they decided to start again, returning to heavier music with the freedom and enthusiasm they had when they first began playing. Recording began in early 2024 with Wayne Adams at Bear Bites Horse Studios, followed by the release of Immense Collapse in March 2025, which attracted attention from Therapy? frontman Andy Cairns who selected Immense Collapse for his monthly picks.
MONOVOID’s live career started soon afterwards with their first show at the Bloodstock Metal 2 the Masses. They reached the regional final and went on to play further shows during 2025. More recently, they have continued to build from there, playing almost 30 shows across England. Their live appearances have included shows with Burner, The Grey, Once Awake, Gurt and Kulk, with further dates ahead including support for Canadian progressive metallers, Anciients.
Dissolving the Brain is only the starting point. With a growing live presence, new material already taking shape and a desire to push the band further, MONOVOID are just getting started.
