Fiercely independent and unapologetically defiant, MY RUIN release their new official video for “CONTEMPT,” the seventh visual installment from their politically charged protest albumDeclaration Of Resistance, out now.

The latest call to action from the band’s self-produced ninth studio album confronts the weaponization of faith, authoritarianism, and the ongoing fight for individual liberty. An unrepentant attack on the unholy alliance between religious extremism and political power, “CONTEMPT” takes aim at evangelical power-brokers, prosperity-gospel profiteers, demagogues, and right-wing politicians who exploit faith for dominance, profit, and control. It’s a blistering indictment of false prophets who preach virtue while practicing vice, cloaking their agendas in scripture and patriotism while abandoning the very moral principles they claim to defend.

From the manipulation of religious devotion for political gain to the calculated manufacturing of fear, division, and cruelty, “CONTEMPT” exposes those who seek to legislate morality while stripping others of their rights. Its message is direct: personal faith should never be a political weapon, and no religious institution or self-appointed moral authority should dictate how everyone else lives. If your religion requires you to hate someone, maybe you need a new religion.

The song’s message resonates against the backdrop of an increasingly polarized American political landscape, where the separation of church and state and the preservation of civil liberties remain essential to democracy. MY RUIN challenges the growing influence of religious nationalism and the drive to transform personal belief into a tool of political domination.

Arriving ahead of the October 17 No Kings nationwide demonstrations, the video carries a message that extends beyond the music. Meaningful opposition demands participation, solidarity, and a refusal to remain silent as democratic institutions and personal freedoms come under threat. MY RUIN encourages people to find a local demonstration and make their voices heard. Visit NoKings.org for information.

“CONTEMPT” follows MY RUIN‘s previous video for “HHRL (Hitler Hated Red Lipstick),” another expression of the band’s longstanding commitment to confronting authoritarianism through music. An ode to a lifelong love of red lipstick and a timeless anti-fascist protest anthem, “HHRL” celebrates every woman who refuses to bow to modern tyrants or historic dictators. Reframing a classic cosmetic staple as warpaint, the song champions female solidarity, bodily autonomy, and the right to speak, live, and exist free from authoritarian control.

Where “HHRL” confronts fascism through the lens of female defiance, “CONTEMPT” targets the religious and political power structures invoked to justify oppression. Together, the videos present different fronts in the same struggle: resisting forces that seek to dictate what people believe, how they live, and who they are allowed to be.

Declaration Of Resistance is MY RUIN‘s ninth studio album and their first heavy rock/metal release in over a decade. Self-produced, mixed, and mastered by multi-instrumentalist Mick Murphy and vocalist Tairrie B. Murphy, the album was recorded at their home studio, The Magick Room, in Knoxville, Tennessee. Entirely independent and created on their own terms, the record reflects the powerhouse husband & wife duo’s determination to retain full creative autonomy while addressing issues they believe demand to be heard.

For the band, resistance isn’t a marketing slogan or a passing trend. It’s a conviction, a creative mission, a refusal to be silent — and their religion. With Declaration Of Resistance, MY RUIN returns with an urgent, on-point protest album that puts their uncompromising vision front and center.
