Vancouver’s post-punk luminaries ACTORS release their provocative new single “Object of Desire” today via Artoffact Records Dripping with sultry synths and an atmosphere that’s both seductive and shadowy, the track is a leather-clad exploration of love and obsession, steeped in the aesthetics of modern darkwave.

Following the acclaim of their previous single “Dead Inside“, ACTORS delve deeper into themes of sensuality and obsession with “Object of Desire”. The song is alluring and synth-laden, dripping with an undercurrent of sex and sadomasochism—a sonic embodiment of love in leather.
Echoing lines like “Stimulate – Grip and slide / Pull and sway” and “I was low but now I’m high / I could be your object of desire“, the track captures the magnetic pull of forbidden pleasures. It’s reminiscent of Joy Division’s intensity but sheds the mournfulness for a more intoxicating allure, much like New Order’s modern take on post-punk. The sparse layering of instrumentation allows each element to breathe, creating an atmospheric soundscape that nods to Bauhaus while the contemporary production makes it pop with fresh vitality.
