ARIMEA release new single ‘Leash’
New EP ‘Orchid Street’ is due out on Thursday 28th November 2024
Oxford’s fast-rising nu-metal outfit , Arimea, have today shared their latest new single Leash – another piece of their forthcoming EP, Orchid Street (due for release on Thursday 28th November 2024). Leash is an angry whirlwind of emotions, a delicate tightrope of conversation that could easily explode at any moment. The single sees Arimea delve head first into the heavier grunge side of the band with vocalist, Whitney Cooper, pushing herself to the extremes with her harsh vocals.
“Leash is a song written about Misogyny intertwined with the idea of playing out your intrusive thoughts,” states vocalist Whitney Cooper. “You know, those thoughts that make you shiver and question who you are, thoughts so unlike your reality that you have to shake the thought of them off after having them.”
Sharing their most treasured work to date, the refreshingly raw quartet have used their staple nu-metal approach to create a unique record, that’s new and exciting but nostalgic all at the same time.
Talking on the announcement of their new EP, Arimea bassist Joe Landles shares, “To be sharing something with the world that finally feels authentically us is something very powerful indeed. With our last few releases, it felt that we were holding just that little bit back and sticking to convention with regards to lyrical content, instrumentation and even the song structure. We want to show that we’re prepared to take risks and not settle for something you can get from any old alternative or metal band, we want you to KNOW when you’re listening to Arimea. Releasing this EP really feels like we’ve seen the line that modern heavy music has drawn in the sand, and kicked our way through it.”
Arimea unleashes a refreshingly raw approach to nu-metal, weaving the elements of 90s and early 2000s sounds from Flyleaf, P.O.D, Deftones, Mudvayne, etc. that first inspired them into their already well-established take on modern alt-metal. The band has crafted a heady brew of nu-metal, alternative rock, and progressive metal, with shades of hardcore and hip-hop thrown in for good measure, drawing inspiration from the likes of Limp Bizkit, Slipknot, Linkin Park, and (Hed) P.E. that promises to be your new favourite sound.
From Humble Beginnings, Arimea took to fruition in post-pandemic UK honing the nu-metal charge alongside critically acclaimed mix engineer and producer MACHINE whose previous production work covers many of the bands we grew up listening to, such as Suicide Silence, Coal Chamber, and Lamb of God.
