As The Palaces Burn releases the new single “Zodiac” this Friday, December 13, in conjunction with the Palaces Fest 13th Edition, a festival organized by the band and now in its second edition.
The single is a composition that revisits the origins of the Brazilian band, drawing inspiration from “Arcanum,” a standout from their debut album ‘End’evour’ (2019) , the new song dives into the chilling story of the Zodiac Killer, the infamous and unidentified criminal who terrorized the United States in the 1960s.
“Zodiac offers a glimpse into the killer’s dark, introspective psyche while weaving a lyrical thread back to ‘Arcanum,’” explains drummer and lyricist Gilson Naspolini.“While Diego Bittencourt’s original composition didn’t focus on this theme, I reimagined it, creating a seamless connection between the two songs—melodically and narratively. ‘Zodiac’ fuses ‘Arcanum’s’ enigmatic aura with a harrowing, sinister storyline”.
“Zodiac” maintains the essence presented in the band’s previous songs, but goes further by demonstrating a clear artistic evolution. The single combines the old school energy of rock’n’roll with the aggressiveness and technical precision of modern metal. This well-balanced mix reflects the band’s ability to transform its influences into something unique, consolidating its own identity in the contemporary rock and metal scene. It is proof that As The Palaces Burn is constantly growing, unafraid to explore new sound paths.
The single, available now on all major streaming platforms, is accompanied by striking cover art designed by Carlos Fides and boasts the stellar production work of Adair Daufembach, who was also responsible for recording the bass line, two acclaimed names in the metal world.

In the dynamic Brazilian metal scene, the band As The Palaces Burn has carved out its space, with a balanced fusion of aggression and technique. Inspired by diverse influences that encompass traditional heavy metal, thrash metal and subtle nuances of progressive and modern metal, the band’s sound identity is as varied as it is powerful.
Emerging on the scene in 2018, As The Palaces Burn made its presence felt with a debut album titled ‘End’evour’, in 2019. Already in this first work, the band demonstrates its ability to blend several metal subgenres into a cohesive sound. The following year, in 2020, the EP ‘All The Evil’ was released, which featured two new original songs and a tribute to Savatage with a rendition of “Hall of the Mountain King”. This period also marked the band’s growing recognition, receiving nominations for Roadie Crew magazine’s “Best of the Year” awards in 2019 and 2020.
In 2021, the release of the single “For The Weak” captured the essence of what was to come. Accompanied by a lyric video, having its premiere by the Brazilian magazine Roadie Crew, this track determined the path of later compositions.
Seeking to further solidify their presence, in 2022 the band brought the EP ‘Offer To The Gods’. This release paid homage to Brazilian metal legends such as Angra (with “Streets Of Tomorrow”), DR. SIN (with “Fire”) and Sepultura (with “Mass Hypnosis”), showcasing the band’s versatility and respect for their roots.
In 2023 the single “Into Emotions” was released accompanied by an impactful music video. This marked the prelude to their long-awaited full-length album, ‘Drowning Into Shadows’, produced by Adair Daufembach, cementing the band’s evolution.
With their music resonating across digital platforms, As The Palaces Burn invites fans of various styles of heavy metal to experience their unique fusion. As they continue to evolve and make their mark on the Brazilian metal scene, their story unfolds with a promising horizon ahead.
