Decibel Magazine is hosting the public debut of “Loss,” the maiden single and lead track from AZURE EMOTE‘s incoming The Third Perspective full-length. The third album by the avant death metal unit will see release in March through Selfmadegod Records.
AZURE EMOTE is the brainchild of vocalist Mike Hrubovcak (Monstrosity, Hypoxia, Divine Rapture) joined by guitarist Ryan Moll (Rumpelstiltskin Grinder, Total Fucking Destruction). The Third Perspective also sees drums provided Mike Heller (Fear Factory, Malignancy, Raven), bass from Kelly Conlon (Death, Pessimist, Monstrosity) who also played trumpet on “Three Six Nine,” vocals from Melissa Ferlaak (Therion, Plague of Stars, Echoterra, Aesma Daeva), violins from Pete Johansen (Sins Of Thy Beloved, Tristania, Morgul, Sirena), and keyboards by Jonah Weingarten (Pyramaze, We Are Sentinels, Teramaze). Additional guest guitars on “Loss” are provided by Mark English (Monstrosity, Deicide), and on “Dark Realms” and “Solitary Striving” by Bob Davodian (Divine Rapture, Randall Flagg).
The Third Perspective was recorded and mixed by Ron Vento at Nightsky Studios (Aurora Borealis, Imperial Crystalline Entombment) and mastered by Dan Swanö at Unisound Studios (Edge Of Sanity, Bloodbath, Witherscape), and completed with artwork by AZURE EMOTE‘s Mike Hrubovcak (Visualdarkness.com), known for creating artwork for Megadeth, Six Feet Under, Avenged Sevenfold, Sinister, Grave, Mortician, Cattle Decapitation, and many more.
Hrubovcak offers with the premiere, “The song ‘Loss’ is a melancholic dirge encompassing moments of rage and depression. It is meant to be a reflection on personal mortality, the tragedy of watching loved ones die, and the freedom that comes with your own death and the inevitable loss of everything.”
Writes Decibel of the track, “If you’re going to take an established art form and add an experimental touch, there’s a lot of things that can go wrong. Luckily, in the case of death metal, AZURE EMOTE gets it so gloriously right. Following in the footsteps of the ancient gods like Atheist, Nocturnus, and Cynic, the band makes modern death metal, adds a touch of black metal, and then weaves in unconventional song structures and non-metal instruments. And they do it in a way that adds to the catchiness of the music.”

Selfmadegod Records will release The Third Perspective digitally and as a special slipcase CD on March 6th. Find preorders including new merch bundles and more HERE.

AZURE EMOTE exploded onto the scene with a blast of creativity that perforated the boundaries of extreme metal. The first creation Chronicles Of An Aging Mammal (2007) took the metal world by surprise with its divergent perplexity, and soon accumulated a cult following within the avant-garde underground. The subsequent album The Gravity Of Impermanence (2013) presented a more ambitious and polished offering, yet equally as enthralling and apocalyptic as the first. The newest album, The Third Perspective progresses even further in both musicianship and ingenuity with its thought-provoking arrangements and captivating spirit that sets AZURE EMOTE apart from the rest.
Categorizing AZURE EMOTE into a specific genre is a difficult task with each album and song conjuring its own unique sound. Imagine a magic cauldron of death, black and doom metal boiling with elements of avant-garde, electronic, and progressive metal. Incorporated into this melting pot is a colorful spectrum of musical styles and elements such as the addition of violins, operatic vocals, keyboards, saxophone, trumpet, flute, harmonica, maracas, and more, to produce an array of eclectic soundscapes that morph together within a barrage of pummeling metal. The band unleashes a sonic masterpiece of musical devastation; their tertiary offering is an invigorating acid trip of extreme avant-garde metal that transcends conventional boundaries. Both puzzling and poetic, the band’s elaborate music paints an abstract picture of existential nihilism. Step outside the proverbial “box” with AZURE EMOTE‘s darkest and most powerful opus to date.
