BRAZEN TONGUE, consisting of Scott Skopec (guitars, vocals, synths), Ethan Gifford (guitars), Frank Lato (session bass), and Kevin Paradis (session drums), has been a long time in the making. Originating from a musical partnership that began in 2004, the band has overcome geographical separations and life’s unpredictable changes to forge a sound that is as unique as their story.

Of Crackling Embers and Sorrows Drowned is the culmination of years of shared musical evolution, highlighting the band’s diverse influences from classic metal, thrash, black metal, to death metal, drawing inspiration from iconic bands such as Metallica, Kreator, King Diamond, Emperor, and more. Engineered and mixed by Andy Nelson at Bricktop Studios in Chicago, IL, with additional recording by Greg Livas and mastering by Brad Boatright, the album is a testament to the band’s dedication to their craft and their ability to create compelling music across continents.

The album promises an auditory journey across its seven tracks, ranging from four to ten minutes long, each exploring themes of mortality, the acceptance of past mistakes, and the existential struggle against forces beyond our control. “The Weight Of Self” is just the beginning, with two more singles, “Walking the Parapets” and “Last Train to Myrdal,” set to precede the album’s full release.
