DAWN OF ASHES RELEASE POIGNANT NEW SINGLE ‘HEART WRAPPED IN SUICIDE’ VIA ARTOFFACT RECORDS
LISTEN HERE ON BANDCAMP, APPLE MUSIC, SPOTIFY
Today’s new track from DAWN OF ASHES strings together the band’s industrial-electro roots with distinct thrash and speed metal influences and suitingly husky, grating vocals. Touching on a subject that unfortunately is globally relatable to countless people, particularly those who turn to music as a form of healing, the song’s lyrics are packed with raw emotion and delivered with chilling force.
On the new single, vocalist Kristof Bathory comments: “‘Heart Wrapped In Suicide’ touches on a very sensitive topic, from personal experience. The lyrics are as authentic as possible because I have been in that place where it’s hard to climb out of that hole we all have fallen into in our lives. The thoughts of how you want to go out can be a very traumatic experience but in life sometimes you just get fed up with things and you don’t know any other way of moving past that wall. I feel like a lot of people can relate to this.
On the musical side, for the past two years I have been heavily listening to hardcore music, especially from the 90s. Vocally I went more raw and guttural, I wanted to display my anger and emotions as best as possible. The music captures the feel of what we did in the early dark electro days and brings in the heaviness from hardcore and extreme metal.”
Dawn of Ashes is a hybrid of industrial and extreme metal based out of Los Angeles, California. Started in 2001 by Kristof Bathory as a pure dark electro act fused with hardcore and metal energy, the band later evolved and became something more angry and aggressive – with the very name meaning the beginning of the end. That name brought out various lyrical themes that tied into horror / harsh elements towards humanity, monotheistic religions, and other topics that strike down with aggressive anger.
Stay tuned, more to come from Dawn of Ashes…
