December 16 marks the release of “Is It Time To Fly?” the new album by Italy’s Diplomatics, which will be released via Go Down Records. For their third studio album, DIPLOMATICS had some clear ideas: looking for a wave and punk-funk evolution, without losing their DNA. The sound recalls contemporary bands such as Amyl & The Sniffers, Parquet Courts, Viagra Boys and the band paid great attention to the lyrics and vocal lines, both sung and ‘spoken’ in the style of Lou Reed. The main topics are alienation, the desire to run away, loneliness, capitalist society’s hypocrisy, but also themes very dear to them like partying as a time of escape, self-expression, gathering together and the happiness of touring life.

In support of the new album, the band has shared a brand new lyric video for the track “Back To You”. Watch the clip here:

The band comments: “This song delivers our new wave and punk-funk vibes. The baseline riff recalls Gang Of Four: schizophrenic, fast and tense. The lyrics talk about a daring escape from the police: the streets of Chicago, gunfire, bullets grazing the car, danger, the feeling that the end is near and the last thought goes to ones you will never see again. Metaphorically, that’s how we deal with fear and anxiety through Rock’n’Roll“.
