Dying Gorgeous Lies Interview

By Keith Clement

Greetings from Metalheads Forever Magazine, I’m Keith the Editor in chief, how are you guys doing out there?

Hi Keith! I’m Liz, lead vocalist of Dying Gorgeous Lies J We are doing fantastic, about to release our new ass-kicking record “The Hunter and the Prey” in a couple of days.

Can you tell me how it all began for Dying Gorgeous Lies?

10 years ago it kind of started probably like with every other band. Friends start jamming, creating first songs, playing first shows. But what has always been different with us since we started playing music we’ve our goals: we have always dreamed big and have always been ready to fulfill our dreams – no matter what

What does the name of the band actually mean

The “Dying Gorgeous Lies” are the pretty lies that society tells you in order to keep you calm and small. But we let these lies shatter and die, reality breaks through and shows it’s dark and dirty face.

This year, though, we created something new, something greater above everything else: Dying Gorgeous Lies gave birth to the Wasteland Clan, the melting pot for all survivors of apocalypse.

The Hunter and the Prey is expected to be released on the 22nd this month, how is the outcome as per you?

Our sound changed in many ways from our last records – not only because we added Jay’na D. on keyboards/pianos/samples to our line-up. Also the vocals show more variety and experiment with different styles than on “First World Breakdown”. We are very happy with the outcome and can’t wait to release it to the world.

How different it will be for the fans from the previous “First World Breakdown”

While “First World Breakdown” picked the apocalypse and the end of the world as we know it as the central theme, we speed up to the year 2079 with “The Hunter and the Prey”. The record plays in a post-apocalyptic scenario after the “Great Dying”, there are no more countries and boarders, no more media channels or broadcasting systems, no more infrastructure or politics. The survivors of the apocalypse live in tribes and try to survive, so are we and our Wasteland Clan.

What are the next plans for the band?

We just released a music video to the song “Fatal Craving” and another music video is getting released very soon. Directly after the record release we tour all over Germany, Switzerland and Austria until the end of May. We also plan on taking the Wasteland Clan to many other countries this year in order to conquer more cities and recruit many more members for our Wasteland Clan.

What are some of the influences for the band?

We all have different musical roots, so it’s natural that our style is not just plain thrash metal, even though it’s the common base. We mix our personal tastes in music all together and create a unique sound that is not afraid of experiments.

We are the Wasteland Clan, always remember, never forget!
