Eternal Silence – Renegades (EP)
Album Review By Rainer Kerber
Since 2008 Eternal Silence exist. The band was founded in Varese, the capital of the province of the same name in northwestern Lombardy. Trademark since the beginning is the dual leadership at the microphone. After three albums and several EP’s, the four-track EP “Renegades” was released. One year after the tenth anniversary.
The EP was named after the new song of the same name. You can hear this right at the beginning. After a short song intro, the Italians show that they are not playing a symphonic uniform pulp. The harder pace dominates, powerful guitar sound without frills. And the songstress doesn’t even try to reach the greatest pitches. Her male singing partner also moves away from any symphonic metal clichés. No growls, but also no opera-like vocals. Of course, keyboards can also be heard, but these are used discreetly. This is followed by three live songs that fans already know from the album “Mastermind Tyranny” and the EP “Metamorphosis 2008-2018”. Eternal Silence show that they can also be assigned to the Power Metal genre live.
For someone like me who didn’t know the band before, “Renegades” offers a good introduction to Eternal Silence. A well-made new song. In addition, the live recording, which upgrades the single to EP. It’s a good suggestion to listen to more material from this band.
