Iranian Melodic Death/Black Metal outfit Bitter Wine has unleashed the lyric video of their Song “The Lighting Stars” taken from its 2023 debut album “In The Soleness Of Storm” which was released through the Portuguese label The Hills Are Dead Records.

“The Lightning Stars” wastes no time, plunging straight into hard-hitting melodic death metal riffs enhanced by invigorating Middle Eastern melodies and a touch of black metal flair. Bitter Wine uses this song to underscore its musical philosophy: a fusion of fast-paced extreme metal and exotic Middle Eastern influences. The accompanying lyric video is a twisted montage of baroque-style paintings that starkly highlight the band’s Iconoclastic themes, creating a vivid and provocative visual experience.

Bitter Wine bio:
Ferocious melodic death metal/black metal contrasted by raw emotional melodies, Bitter Wine’s sound revigorates the Iranian extreme metal scene. Founded by Murray Arisch as a solo project in 2021, Bitter Wine has been steadily gaining traction within Iran’s extreme metal scene recently. In 2023, Bitter Wine released its debut album “In The Soleness Of Storm” via the Portuguese label The Hills Are Dead Records. The music of “In The Soleness Of Storm” can be described as a callback to the 90’s melodic death metal and melodic black metal movements. What makes Bitter Wine unique is the band’s peculiar balance of hard-hitting riffs and catchy melodies. Lyrically the band deals with irreverent and anti-ideological themes as well as nihilism, social issues, and depression.
In 2024, after the release of the album, Bitter Wine ended its solo project phase by consolidating a full lineup consisting of guitarist Vahid Karimifard, bassist, Amir Bonakdar, and drummer Hossein “Ermita” Zahedi. With the new lineup, Bitter Wine performed its first live show in Iran with plans to perform in various countries in the near future.
