Jason Charles Miller Releases “Digging in the Dust” Music Video, Accolades Mounting for New Album ‘Knives in the Dark’, On Tour with Steel Panther Through Summer, Performing at International Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fests
Jason Charles Miller is proud to unveil his official music video for “Digging in the Dust,” a sci-fi inspired epic that Nerdist.com hails for its “Doctor Who hints, Fallout vibes, Star Wars energy, maybe some Dune, and a little sprinkle of Black Mirror.” The video is the first from brand new album Knives in the Dark, and boldly furthers Miller’s unique blend of southern rock/Americana musical stylings and fantasy/sci-fi influences.
Says Nerdist of the video: “[Jason Charles Miller] has deep connections to the geek, gaming, and Dungeons & Dragons world. But, damn, he looks cool doing it. And sounds incredible as well. We feel totally obsessed with the sci-fi themes in the “Digging in the Dust” music video. The story of this song is one that anyone can relate to, one of love and loss. But choosing to tell it visually with a sci-fi spin brings something greater to the table: a feeling of narrative, magic, and richness that might not otherwise be present. We love how the video creates a out-of-this-world story for the song that has our gears turning. We’ll be swaying along and singing to it all day.”
The accolades continue to mount for Miller and the new release. “I love this man. You should find his music and let it rock your world!” says actor Matthew Lillard (Scream, SLC Punk, Scooby Doo). Mayhem Rockstar Magazine hails the new release as “one of the year’s top new independent albums.” Cryptic Rock agrees, giving it 4.5/5 stars. And yesterday’s video premier, hosted exclusively by Nerdist, was syndicated by Yahoo! Entertainment.

“Everyone brings their own history and experiences to the music they listen to, and they often apply the lyrics to their own lives with their unique viewpoints,” says Miller of “Digging in the Dust.” “This particular song and its video exemplify that idea. The song may have been written with one intention, but the individuals interpreting it might take it in another direction, though ultimately arriving at a similar understanding, showing that songs can resonate with people in different ways.”
“Ultimately, it’s sort of how powerful love can be,” adds director Adam Fogel, “that love can bring somebody back from the dead and allow them to traverse miles and miles and be reunited with someone. At its core, it’s a simple story about human emotion, but told through the lens of this sprawling sci-fi, cosmic supernatural kind of thing.”

‘Knives’ is Miller’s fifth full-length solo album, alongside multiple EPs and singles and a host of high-profile soundtrack and theme music work for shows and games including ‘Critical Role,’ ‘Metal Gear Rising,’ ‘Cyberpunk 2077,’ ‘Legends of the Multiverse’ and AEW professional wrestler Brandon Cutler. His music contributions to the Final Fantasy video game franchise have made him a fan favorite to players of the game, and he is featured regularly at Final Fantasy Fan Fest events worldwide, including officially sanctioned tour stops in Japan and South Korea this fall, where he will perform Final Fantasy XIV music alongside all-star ensembles and orchestras.
Knives in the Dark is his first release with One Opportunity Records.
“We’re so fortunate to have Jason as the newest artist on our label” says Mike Figliuolo, co-founder of One Opportunity Records. “His sound is unique and resonates with fans of so many different genres. It’s rare to find an artist that can defy being pigeonholed and instead create music with such broad appeal. We’re confident fans will love ‘Knives in the Dark’!”
“This is the first album I’ve written where my only goal was to write the best songs I can, and not worry about where they might be categorized,” says Miller. “By not going out of my way to write for a specific genre, I’ve made what is, hands down, the best – and most representative – album of my career.”
Widely recognized as the frontman and founder of the rock band Godhead, where he toured the world with the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Rammstein, Disturbed, Linkin Park, Slipknot and Korn frontman Jonathan Davis, Miller transitioned to a solo artist with the release of his Last To Go Home EP in 2009.
Seamlessly blending the worlds of Americana, rock and country, his solo career has seen him share stages with greats including Billy Ray Cyrus, Alan Jackson, Eric Church, Toby Keith, Ashley McBryde, .38 Special, Allman Betts Band and more.
