London, Ontario’s L00ping send another shock wave with their new music video for “Cold Showers”. Featuring Spenny of “Kenny vs Spenny” fame, the tormented and anxiety-stricken video is available to watch HERE!
Directed by Cherry Howe, and ‘Video Business’, the music video brings the viewers into the mind of an individual experiencing an anxiety-induced panic attack. Screaming out into the abyss of his mind, the lead character struggles to ground himself in the world that surrounds him. Fueled by harsh sound manipulation, it pulls you in as if the viewer were experiencing it themselves.
As Spenny puts it, the video, “reminds me of my nightly nightmares or an acid trip run amuck. The band and the video makers were super cool, and most importantly culturally, the e-transfer went through.”
“Is it gone? Then why can’t I focus, know it’s wrong? Am I gone?” are lyrics from the track but are also thoughts going through Evan Martin’s (vocals & guitar) mind when he experiences panic attacks. Ultimately, the song is about grounding oneself in a cold shower due to temperature shock. As well as the dissociation from the real world that often takes hold during an episode.
Cold Showers was recorded at Union Sound Company by Ian Gomes (Odonis Odonis, Casper Skulls).
L00ping, the industrial noisegazer rock band is reminiscent of a 1980s era Sonic Youth and early Nirvana messing around with harsh noise samples. They are broken, loud and abrasive. Members include Evan Martin on vocals and guitar and Laurie McColeman on bass.
