Canadian power/thrash metallers LYCANTHRO are paying homage to German heavyweights RUNNING WILD with their cover of “Port Royal”. Delivering soaring vocals, intricate riffs and haunting choirs, the Wolfpack are once again unleashed.
“This cover was originally recorded for a RUNNING WILD tribute album we had the honour of being a part of during the pandemic called Wild Privateers. We were (and still are) very proud of how the song turned out both from a production and performance aspect, so we decided that the Wolfpack faithful and fans of good heavy metal have to hear this track beyond those who heard it on the compilation. RUNNING WILD is a band that we hold near and dear to our hearts and we wanted to do this song the justice and due diligence it deserves. We believe that if this track finds its way into your ears and/or playlists, you won’t be disappointed!”
LYCANTHRO’s interpretation of “Port Royal” sees their own distinctive performance style and sound complement the nature of the original. Frontman James Delbridge’s impressive vocals bring are dynamic range and power to the high-powered instrumentation that remains unceasing throughout. “Port Royal” is a thrilling, high-octane release from the unchained quartet.
About LYCANTHRO:
LYCANTHRO are a four-piece power/thrash metal band that formed in 2016 in Ottawa, Canada. They combine power, thrash and speed metal, along with an energetic and epic stage presence with their lyrical themes from classic horror, pop culture and mythology. LYCANTHRO introduced themselves to the Canadian metal scene with the release of their self-titled demo followed soon after by their 2018 EP “Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse”. The quartet encapsulates a heavy and yet melodic sound that is drawn from influences of both European/American classic power metal. Incorporating howling vocals, piercing guitars, a booming rhythm section as well as uses of instruments as piano and classical guitar, LYCANTHRO forge a powerful sound.
