‘REGRESSION’ is the short but powerful debut full length album from Barcelona based melodic death outfit ARCHETYPE X. The album is a blistering 28 minutes long– a lean experience focusing on providing nonstop energy and a sound that is perpetually moving forward. The album is filled with catchy and dynamic soundscapes, resulting in a journey that will reward multiple playthroughs to reveal each textured layer of this release.
ARCHETYPE X formed in 2016 and take their influences from several different styles of metal. While they are overall melodic death at their core, these other influences can be heard in their songs that incorporate a range of styles including metalcore, djent, and even blackened and progressive tendencies. Their variety isn’t distracting but rather confident and sterling for such a young band.
