He slept through the night before last, hoping not to wake; but he woke in the morning—yesterday. It was blowing a blizzard. He said, ‘I am just going outside and may be some time.’ He went out into the blizzard and we have not seen him since…We knew that poor Oates was walking to his death, but though we tried to dissuade him, we knew it was the act of a brave man and an English gentleman. We all hope to meet the end with a similar spirit, and assuredly the end is not far.”
– The diary of Robert Falcon Scott, March 17th 1912

Inspired by the final words of Antarctic explorer, Captain Lawrence Oates and his selfless act of sacrifice, I May Be Some Time is the captivating new album from London based instrumental post-rock trio Million Moons. A breathtaking, immersive experience, I May Be Some Time is a tribute to people like him, who hear the call of adventure and risk it all to carve a path into the unknown. Its seven tracks are designed to take the listener on a musical voyage, inviting you to picture the trials and tribulations of a crew retracing Oates’ footsteps – and perhaps ultimately meeting the same fate.

The bravery and ingenuity, the tragedy and nobility are all captured within the superbly structured sounds of tracks such as ‘Endure, Overcome’ with its surging emotion and power rising from fragile, frozen emptiness. The dramatic, terrible beauty of the landscape is summoned into life by the shifting winds of ‘Voice of the Wild’ – the awe-inspiring vistas, the vast open skies and the vicious, blood-freezing, spirit draining cold.

Both grandly cinematic and intensely personal, infused with human emotion, I May Be Some Time is a remarkable piece of work; a triumph not only of musical creativity and skill, but also of imaginative vision and ambition. Storytelling without words, poignant pictures painted with sound…

Following on from their 2022 debut album, Gap in the Clouds, which bravely and sensitively explored the harrowing effects of the onset of Alzheimer’s, I May Be Some Time is another stunning achievement from Million Moons. The production of Lewis Johns (IthacaSvalbardEmployed To Serve etc) brings the very best out of every varied sonic element that combines to create I May Be Some Time – the raw power of the elements, the rich swathes of majesty, the echoing notes of crystal ice, the overwhelming waves of emotion, the propulsive rhythmic thunder, the gentle, reflective washes of sound.

Million Moons have created a very special album. When I May Be Some Time is released, on July 5th through Ripcord Records, complete with its evocative cover image, by artist Herm The Younger, its poise and grace will surely capture the hearts of all those who hear it.
