“The Wretched Masquerade” album reviews:
“Fans of NWOBHM (Angel Witch, Praying Mantis) and early American heavy metal (Riot, Metal Church) would do well in checking this out too. Don’t be surprised if this is looked back on in 10 years as a classic” – Autistic Jukebox
“The Wretched Masquerade is a solid listen from start to finish. It may have taken Emissary a while to get their first album out, but it makes me hope it isn’t the last we hear from them” – The Metal Crypt
“Reminding me a little of black album era Metallica. You know the sound, a mix of thrash, traditional metal and hymn-like resonance… the band lives up to their power metal status with a barnstorming barrage of infectious and immensely catchy metal” 8/10 – Metal Gods TV / Frenzy Fire
“Emissary know how to deliver some in-your-face steel, featuring skull-crushing vinyl, great solos and some powerful vocals under a storm-taking rhythm section. You should listen to this album really loud!” – The Forgotten Scroll
“For a slice of old school American traditional heavy metal, Emissary is the real deal and The Wretched Masquerade perhaps a contender for its modern revival” 3.5 / 5 – DangerDog Music
“The whole band really shines throughout the album and every single member of the band really does bring something to the table here! The songs are well written, really well arranged, and while Emissary is a band that I am hearing just for the very, first time they sound like a band that is a veteran act” 5 / 5 – KNAC.COM
“This first album is one of the best using all the eighties recipes from Thrash to Heavy Metal riffs and melodies. Old metalheads like me will revive those great years of metal that marked life forever. It’s with no doubt Emissary is the ideal band to spread good vibes” 100/100 – The Metal Mag
“Remembering the approach of masters such as Metal Church… sounds classic, enriched by epic elements” 86 / 100 – HardRockHeavyMetal
“Emissary has a sound that is similar to Queensryche and Q5. Dahlen’s crunching guitars are interspersed with some classy melodies and tasty leads, while Harris’ vocals, after all these years, are still very strong. A welcome comeback” 8 /10 – PowerPlay UK rock & metal magazine
Classic, power metal inspired sound, filled with soaring lead vocals, aesthetic melodies, and choppy rhythms. Songwriting: 7 Musicianship: 7 Memorability: 6 Production: 8 – Metal Temple
