Venezuelan Black/Death Metal band, EIGHTH SIN, is pleased to announce the release of their first music video entitled “Un Dios Salvaje”. This project has been directed by renowned Venezuelan filmmaker Luis Rodriguez, who has previously collaborated with the band, bringing his artistic vision and experience to the work. This release not only marks a significant milestone in EIGHTH SIN‘s trajectory, but also highlights their commitment to innovation and quality in Venezuela’s extreme music scene, where they have been active since their re-emergence in 2019.

History of the Band

EIGHTH SIN was founded in 1998 by Bernardo König, Alejandro Ayala and Jesús Santana. After a period of separation, the band re-emerged in 2019 with a new lineup that initially included Juan Carlos Figueroa on drums, along with Jesus Santana (vocals), Ruben Salas (guitar) and Alexis Peraza (bass). However, shortly thereafter, Figueroa left the band and was replaced by Oswaldo Medina. This new lineup has allowed EIGHTH SIN to explore a more solid and complete sound, evolving in its lyrical essence, which focuses on themes such as dark nature, violence and the destructiveness of the human being. The band’s evolution reflects their commitment to the darker aspects of existence.

Videoclip Reception

The music video “Un Dios Salvaje” has been enthusiastically received by prominent critics in the Venezuelan and international film and music scene, including respected Venezuelan film critics such as Sergio Monsalve, Luis Bond, Humberto Sánchez Amaya and Spanish writer José Ángel Barrueco. In addition, it has been applauded by Vincent Crowley (ACHERON / VINCENT CROWLEY), one of the most influential voices of international Extreme Metal, which underlines the relevance and impact of this release in the musical arena. The participation of American actress, singer, producer and director Diane Foster, known for her work with filmmakers and musicians such as GLENN DANZIG, adds significant and creative value to this music video. Foster also recently directed and starred in the horror film “Easter Bloody Easter”, which reinforces the connection between visual art and music in this project. Diane Foster’s involvement is a major accomplishment for the band.

Theme and Message

The lyrics and music video of “Un Dios Salvaje” offer a profound meditation on the nature of suffering, free will and religion, as proposed by Jean-Paul Sartre, and the complexity of the relationship between the human being and the divine. With evocative language and powerful images, the song invites us to question traditional notions of divinity and to reflect on the human condition in a chaotic and indifferent universe, as Jean Améry or Al Alvarez would say in his book “The Savage God”, the name taken by vocalist Jesús Santana for this song, a discourse on voluntary death. Santana has chosen not to explain the origin of the theme, allowing the audience to interpret what they hear and see, which adds a layer of mysticism and depth to the experience.

Eighth Sin is:

Jesús Santana – Vocals
Ruben Salas – Guitar
Alexis Peraza – Bass
Oswaldo Medina – Drums
