“I speak” represents the simplest form of peaceful protest, which has never had a right or any way to be expressed. A grievance and objection against the present situation that has been ignored become a vision for getting tougher. Sadness and frustration of any change toward development in the current situation, and on the other hand, the deterioration of many other issues such as a terrible economic situation or lack of freedom of speech, and even restrictions on the choice of music style, has created a scream-like protest in which despair can be seen and the only way to pass the era is to be much more tough and stronger.
In this music video, images of child labor, poor old people as those who live in the worst living conditions and the way it continues by enduring hardships are used symbolically.
We also see children who are at the beginning of this kind of life and their future will be the same. They have been abandoned as well and are on a path where no one cares about their future, and they suffer from various harms by working on the streets, and they are going to live with more and more disorders every day.
Whereas, I see a few children who are living at the best level of welfare. Both in terms of livelihood and social status, we see a bitter socio-economical level gap that leads to attracting attention to poverty and depicts the social situation at this Dark Age.
“Salman Kerdar” in “I Speak” talks about dreams that are doomed to be frozen in this situation and by not being available, they have left nothing but regret. At the beginning of the picture, we see a newborn child who symbolically opens his eyes to be in this situation, and at the same time, at the beginning of the story, he creates a course of hope that may lead to a better future for the next generation.
Salman Kerdar, was born on November 13, 1982. In 2008, he received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering from Azad University in Semnan, Iran.
Despite the fact that he studied to be an engineer and the fact that he worked as one for many years, he never could let go of his passion for music, especially rock and hard rock music. Since he was a teenager, he was eager to learn how to play rock music. Being completely occupied with studies and work, finally in the year 2000, he started learning electric guitar from different music maestros.
In 2002, Salman was introduced to music maestro Shapouri Fard and he successfully completed courses in Acoustic guitar in Jazz and Blues genres. However, completing courses was not the end of the road for Salman, rather he improved his musical capabilities to the highest levels by reading and practicing the work of great and famous music maestros.
His passion for music did not end with learning and playing different types of guitar. Rather, Salman wanted to explore all the related skills to the music world. That is why, in 2012, besides playing music, Salman, started learning mixing and mastering by participating in online courses.
Also, in 2015, he learned classical singing from music maestro Hamidreza Shabani.
And, in 2018, he learned rock music singing techniques from music maestro Reza Niknaam.
Between 2011 and 2015, he learned about writing lyrics from his old friend, may his soul rests in peace, Dr Afshin Yadollahi. So Salman started writing poems for his own songs.
In 2018, after completing many courses and practicing continuously, he earned an international certificate in mix and mastering, helping him to be able to record his songs officially and internationally.
His hard work finally paid off and he could release his first song in 2016, named Haale khakestari (Gray Mood). As his first single was a hit, he was more motivated and passionate to produce and create more songs. Consequently, he released songs; Shohreye Shahr (Famous in town), Divoonegi (insanity), Nagoo Bargard (Don’t tell me to come back) and Shatranj (chess).
In 2016, he decided to open a music institute in Tehran, Iran, working with great and experienced music maestros. Salman has been holding many music classes in his institute for students in different age groups. Opening the music institute, not only helped him to grow as a musician and help others to find their talents, but also it was a help for him to be able to start recording his first official album. This album is awaiting approval from officials to be officially published.
