Eternal Echoes: Southern California’s Heavy Rock/Metal band THE RIFT Explores Life’s Perpetuity in New Album ‘Metamorphosis’ with Debut Single ‘Grim’
Imagine if the Grim Reaper were an everyday person, with the concept of death merely constituting his mundane daily job—a perpetual curse that binds him. What would it be like to live indefinitely? These intriguing questions fueled our creative exploration and culminated in the creation of “Grim,” the first release from our upcoming album, “Metamorphosis.” This album signifies a significant evolution for our band, and we’re excited to finally share it with our dedicated fans.
The lyrics of “Grim” draw inspiration from a variety of sources, including our profound admiration for literary figures like Edgar Allan Poe and H.P. Lovecraft, as well as the captivating essence of the Rolling Stones. Musically, our goal was to craft a piece that is both intense and anthemic, drawing influences from bands like Metallica, Muse, and Volbeat, with an underlying groove reminiscent of surf rock.
The track was meticulously recorded and produced at MooseCat Recording Studios by Mike Post, whose impressive portfolio includes collaborations with esteemed artists such as Alice Cooper and Rooney, among others.
With an array of musical influences spanning Flamenco, Thrash Metal, Progressive Rock, Classic Rock, Grunge, Blues, and Reggae, The Rift forged by brothers and long time friends have made band chemistry that is rare and exceptional in todays fickle genre of Rock. Audiences are often shocked to see so much noise comes from only two to three players. With so many different influences the band has learned to blend these genres into their own unique style.
The release of Rock Narcotic in 2018 landed the band on Vans Warped Tour and Next 2 Rock with 95.5 KLOS FM the band has since been busy on a nonstop roller coaster of shows, sharing the stage with artists like Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, We The Kings, Silverstein, Less Than Jake, Chelsea Grin, Beartooth, Simple Plan, Living Colour, Young the Giant, The Misfits, Exodus, and Tantric to mention a few.
