Paris-based heavy psychedelic trio STARMONGER’s new album ‘Occultation’ is arriving this November 29th on Interstellar Smoke Records. The Obelisk premiere debut single and video “Black Lodge” in exclusivity.

Space rock, doom, desert, classic rock… STARMONGER’s new album ‘Occultation’ draws on the classics to compose their intergalactic epic soundtrack! This heroic stoner record, with its charismatic vocals, embarks its audience on an occult sonic journey. Built like tales, the seven tracks illustrate a limitless imagination where strange shamanic hallucinations rub shoulders with an interplanetary class struggle.
New video “black Lodge” directed by Seb Antoine, spoofs famous adventure movies including a wicked priestess and other weird things you need to watch by yourself. It belongs in a museum for sure. “The group find some paintings on the walls, a creepy contortionist, and hooded figures riffing out — as one will. I won’t spoil who the hooded figures are, but either way, the clip is a good time and no less composed than the song it bears” comment The Obelisk.

Each of the tracks on ‘Occultation’ evokes a literal or inner struggle, and has a temporal and spatial progression. These themes are reflected throughout the album’s artwork, which we designed and created ourselves. The album cover is an abstraction of wisps of smoke, an unknown planet and an imperfect alignment. The tracks are linked together by a raw symbolism evoking mysticism and forgotten stories.” Say the band who crafted the artwork all together.
Recorded by Stoneriver Audio and Jérôme Richelme at DGD Studio in Pantin, France (except “Page of Swords”, recorded by Vincent Liard).  Mix and mastering by Jérôme Richelme. Artwork home made by Starmonger (Arthur Desbois, Mathias Friedman, Seb Antoine).

Established in 2015, heavy psychedelic three-piece STARMONGER are specialising in polished cosmic atmospheres and epic climaxes. The Parisians have a unique ability to construct intriguing sonic scenarios, sometimes interstellar and introspective, sometimes rebellious and exalted. They take on doom’s dark weight and desert rock’s roughness, with an uncompromising groove! Classics of the genre are dusted off with a swift gesture, no matter if you’re a fan of Red Fang, All Them Witches, Truckfighters or Baroness.
It took 5 years, a new drummer (Seb Antoine) and 4 EPs (‘Revelation’ I, II, III and IV) before we could enjoy STARMONGER’s debut album: ‘Revelations’ was released in 2020 as a self-produced effort. It immediately won over its peers and took the band on the road to the best venues in Europe. The album is a brilliant fuzzy adventure, but is nothing compared to their forthcoming album ‘Occultation – due out on November 29th through Interstellar Smoke Records. Boosted by bassist Mathias Friedman’s arrival, the gem synthesises experience, inspiration and skill into 7 tracks of heavy, confident riffing.

LINE-UP
