STORMSTRESS RELEASES CHILLING NEW SINGLE AND MUSIC VIDEO FOR “BURIED YOU IN THE SNOW” IN WAKE OF SINGER’S VOCAL CORD OPERATION RECOVERY

All-female, American heavy metal power trio, Stormstress, releases icy new single “Buried You In The Snow” recorded and produced by Doug Batchelder of the Den Studios of North Reading along with an evocative music video filmed by Fuel Heart Productions. Watch it now HERE.

“This song is a requiem for the past self. It’s a song about grieving the loss of a way of life that no longer serves you and the peace you find when you finally let it go. The night I wrote this song, as the first snow of the season fell, was the night I officially walked away and left my old self behind to be buried in the falling snow.” – Tanya Venom (Lead Singer / Guitarist)

Buried You In The Snow is the first new single to arrive from Stormstress after their April 2022 debut full-length album release of Silver Lining in collaboration with producers Sarah Fitzpatrick and Liz Borden of the legendary all-female punk band, Lizzie Borden and the Axes. The album dropped with a sold-out release show followed by a successful tour across the northeast and midwest. Silver Lining has already been met with rave reviews and international airplay including a New England Music Award Nomination for Album of The Year. Critics have called the album “written and played with a level of expertise thought to be reserved for 20-year veterans” (Metal Zenith), “well thought out and strategized for maximum emotional, intellectual and entertainment effect,” (Geof Wilbur’s Music Blog) and “impossible to ignore,” (Science of Rock). Listen to it now HERE.

Venom’s vocal performance on this song is a personal testament to her voice recovery following an operation on her larynx to remove a polyp that was found on her right vocal cord. “There was this magical moment in the studio where I sang a high C6 in the backing vocals, which is a half step higher than I could ever sing before the procedure, and it hit right on the lyric, ‘free.’ Recording this song was an extremely cathartic experience for me because of what I had to overcome. My hope is that other singers who may be struggling with voice disorders can hear this performance and know that it is absolutely possible to get back to your full potential and beyond.” – Tanya Venom

dentical mirror twins and Berklee College of Music Alumni, Tanya Venom, PRS Guitars Pulse Artist, and bassist Tia Mayhem, deliver dual lead vocals over powerhouse ‘Hit Like A Girl 2014’ Finalist Maddie May Scott’s aggressive drumming and harmonious backing vocals. These three wildly ambitious and seasoned players make Stormstres a force to be reckoned with. The bombastic trio has had the honor of opening for heavy metal kings and queens such as The Iron Maidens, Firehouse, and Burning Witches. Stormstress will be opening up for The Iron Maidens again on April 15th 2023 at The Vault in New Bedford, MA along with more national and international tour dates to be announced soon. “We’re excited to show the world the heavier musical direction in which we are headed, and hope to empower others to leave behind what no longer serves them in the snows of winter so that they may emerge with a renewed sense of self in the coming spring.” – Tia Mayhem (Bassist / Singer)
