Tugging from a range of sources, from the driving onslaught of Machine Head and Lamb Of God, through to the power and groove of Black Sabbath and Black Label Society, STRUCK/DOWN have fashioned a sound that pushes and pulls, and is drenched in groove, vigor, and fury.
Hailing from Canterbury, England, STRUCK/DOWN were originally conceived in 2014 as a hard rock band. However, after much evolution and progression, the industrious riff maestros shaped their sound to infuse burly riffs, powerful rhythms, and layered vocals. By 2019, the band had their debut album, Gone, in place, and a stable line-up consisting of Andy Dixon (bass), Will Mason (lead guitar), Linden Twyman (vocals), Tommy Rogers (drums) and Ian Spurrett (rhythm guitar). Although live shows were limited due to the recent pandemic, the record captured the imagination of the underground, and aided by a run of strong selective live performances, word soon began to spread about the rising metallers.
The release of STRUCK/DOWN’s follow up in 2021, From Demons, further cemented the fivesome’s budding reputation. The release cycle included four themed music videos that were conceived, filmed, directed and edited all in house. This darker sound was debuted at 2021’s Metal 2 the Masses, and resulted in the acclaimed metal crew winning the competition and securing a slot on the New Blood stage at Bloodstock Festival. As the year unfolded, STUCK/DOWN brought the house down at Bloodstock in the summer. The crew also rounded out a successful 2021 by racking up airplay for their single, Wandering Child, on Kerrang! Radio.
Last year, line-up changes saw bassist Andy Dixon being replaced by Will Mihr, and lead guitarist Will Mason departing with Pete McLarney taking up the role of lead guitarist. The revitalized five-piece then hit the recording studio to commence work on their brand-new EP, To Witches, and the end result is mightily impressive. Now armed with their formidable EP, the Brit slayers are set to blow your head clean off. The record comes over you with stout groove, expansive songwriting, crushing riffs, and gritty metalcore that is sure to beat you into submission. Look out this year for more passionate and energetic performances, and festival appearances from these stellar metallers.
