The Allman Betts Band on tour in Europe
With the names “Allman” and “Betts” the lover of the Southern Rock clucks tongue. After all, the brothers Gregg and Duane Allman as well as Dickie Betts founded the legendary Allman Brothers Band in 1969. At the time, I was just twelve years old. The Allman Brothers Band are THE Godfathers of the Southern rock and have these largely influenced many decades. Until their end in 2014, they were among the most influential bands in Southern Rock.
Now Devon Allman and Duane Betts follow in their fathers’ footsteps (Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts). In the summer of 2018, they were touring with their solo projects in Europe. During the performance at the Downtown Blues Club in Hamburg I was able to experience the two of them live for the first time and enjoy the music. One year later, the families Allman and Betts are reunited. As “The Allman Betts Band” they released their album debut in June. I had the opportunity to listen in advance in “Down To The River” and find it excellent. Here, Devon Allman and Duane Betts resurrect the ancient times of Southern Rock.
And of course, the two will go on tour with their new band. In the second half of July they present The Allman Betts Band in Europe. In addition to individual appearances in Poland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Great Britain and Norway, seven shows are planned in Germany in particular. And I will not miss the appearance in the Markthalle Hamburg. Since the founding of the Allman Brothers Band will mark this year for the fiftieth time, one can assume that a large number of songs Southern Combo will be played at the concerts.
