Hailing from Fort Wayne, Indiana, THE HOLY NOTHING stands as a beacon for fans seeking an audacious fusion of stoner metal, grunge, and desert rock. Today the band has revealed a new video for their track “Unending Death” from their most recent EP Vol 1: A Profound and Nameless Fear, which was released last fall.

Of the video, the band shares: “The video for Unending Death is a love letter to Suspiria and occult horror movies. We made it ourselves with the help of a few friends in a beautiful old mansion that’s more than 100 years old. The occult vibes perfectly match the tone of the heaviest song from Vol 1: A Profound and Nameless Fear.”

Formed in 2022, the band consists of:

  • Austin Hammond wielding the drums
  • Joey Kaufman on guitar and vocals, and
  • Dan Kinnaley keeping the rhythm on bass, also contributing vocals

It was a mutual admiration for RED FANG that brought these three together. But as fate would have it, their shared love for themes of cosmic horror, science fiction, and apocalyptic scenarios proved to be the creative drive behind their unique sound. Picture them playing the perfect score at your end of the world party.

Musically, THE HOLY NOTHING draws heavily from stoner metal, hardcore, grunge, and the seductive tunes of desert rock. They count among their inspirations legends like RED FANG, BARONESS, CONVERGE, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, and EVERY TIME I DIE. But it doesn’t stop there. Their music is also touched with an atmospheric vibe, inspired by iconic composers such as John Carpenter, Gustavo Santaolalla (known for The Last of Us), and Mark Korven (The Witch). This musical melange is accompanied by lyrics and visuals steeped in existential dread and cosmic horror, underlined by a quest for human connection within the vast expanse of an indifferent universe.

Despite being relatively fresh on the scene, THE HOLY NOTHING’s prowess has landed them spots alongside big names such as HE IS LEGEND, GREYHAVEN, and KAL MARKS.

Tracks & Tales

  • “Bathe Me”: An ode to the consuming lust for one’s lover, where devotion pushes one to the edge.
  • “Bliss Trench”: A song about confronting existential dread and finding solace in what truly matters.
  • “Unending Death”: A revenge narrative inspired by Donald Ray Polluck’s work, touching upon the idea of intervening in the traumatic pasts of loved ones.
  • “Mondegreen”: Inspired by misinterpreted lyrics, this track deals with disillusionment stemming from a religious upbringing.
  • “Doom Church”: A reflection on finding temporary solace in the company of an incompatible partner, seeking meaning in a constructed love.

At the heart of it all, THE HOLY NOTHING yearns for its listeners to carve their own paths and find purpose. If their beats get you dancing or nodding along, they believe their mission is accomplished.
