Almost exactly a year on from their debut, self-titled EP – which had The Razor’s Edge noting that if you weren’t “nodding along to this one, then you need to get the pulse checked” – IMPERIUM are back with a new EP that will surely lift the band’s fortunes to another level. Featuring four studio tracks of supreme heavy metal, including recent single ‘Iron Thunder’ and two raging live cuts, When Kings Meet is not only IMPERIUM’s finest sonic assault to date, but also one of the most accomplished British metal releases of recent years.
The key to IMPERIUM’s irresistible sound is their ability to blend full force riffs and head-caving heaviness with breathtaking solos, unforgettable hooks and addictive melodies. Tracks like the magnificent ‘Capable Of Murder’, a sure-fire contender for the top track award on When Kings Meet, knock you flat but leave you with beautiful memories. Front man Ben Porter has a voice and vocal presence to level mountains and the finely crafted guitar work of Hardip Sagoo Is of the very highest quality. IMPERIUM take the essence of classic British metal and inject it with the monstrous riff and rhythm power of groove and thrash and the results are simply stunning. The release of ‘Iron Thunder’ as a single was a masterstroke, leaving fans hungry for more and now When Kings Meet will surpass even the most sky high of those expectations. The two bonus live tracks were recorded at the Bloodstock Open Air festival in 2022, when the band destroyed the New Blood stage with a rampaging display of barely controlled fury and excess energy.
When Kings Meet was recorded, mixed and mastered by Oz Craggs at Hidden Track Studios (Lauren Harris, Richie Faulkner, Gallows etc), with Ewan Bennett harnessing the devastating drum detonations of James Hawes. A brilliantly recorded, composed and performed set of songs deserves to be adorned with equally brilliant artwork and IMPERIUM turned to renowned artist Daniel ‘The Pitforge’ Porta, who has worked with the likes of thrash legends Hirax and new dark metal heroes Unto Others, to capture the spirit of their latest and greatest release. The band, completed by riff master rhythm guitarist, Scott Lomas and the man responsible for IMPERIUM’s concrete bottom end, bassist Rapha Comes, will launch When Kings Meet with a special release day show at the famous Fighting Cocks venue in Kingston on September 23rd, supported by an array of talent from the UK metal scene, including Dead Before Mourning and Hellfekted. Be there if you can, but whatever you do, don’t miss out on the adrenaline infused, metallic bombardment of When Kings Meet!
