BLACKENED PROGRESSIVE METAL GROUP VINTERSEA UNVEILS DATES FOR “DARKER WESTERN SKIES TOUR”

WEST COAST TOUR FROM PACIFIC NORTHWEST PHENOMS BEGINS SEPTEMBER 24TH IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA

VINTERSEA – whose unique fusion of majestic progressive metal, harsh blackened death and post-metal beauty draws inspiration from the darkened skies of their Pacific Northwest home – has revealed dates for their upcoming “Darker Western Skies” tour, which begins on Friday, September 24th at The X-Bar in Cupertino, CA, and runs through Sunday, October 3rd. All shows will also feature performances from Bay Area black metal upstarts Dawn of Ouroboros and Southern California death dealers Voices of Ruin. The full list of tour dates is below.

Says VINTERSEA guitarist Riley Nix, “We actually booked this tour in March of 2020, with the plan to hit the road that June. Of course, that wasn’t meant to be. Once venues started re-opening and metal fans started clamoring for live music, we put our heads together again with Dawn of Ouroboros and Voices of Ruin to make this run a reality. It is really gratifying and fitting to finally bring our plan to fruition with such talented and exciting bands.”

Says VINTERSEA vocalist Avienne, “We’re ready to finally make some faces melt again! We are so excited to get on the road and meet our fans and friends who have shown us so much support over the past year and a half of uncertainty. We love you guys and we can’t wait to see you on this long-awaited tour!”

The “Darker Western Skies” tour will be VINTERSEA’s first full tour after the release of their critically-acclaimed 2019 record, “Illuminated”, which was praised by Dead Rhetoric as “a wondrous, challenging record that will reward listeners who are seeking something more.” The album shows off the band’s riveting mix of prog, black, death and post-metal that has earned comparisons to forward-thinking acts such as Agalloch and Enslaved. “Illuminated” can be purchased at smarturl.it/vintersea.

Fronted by Malaysian-born singer Avienne, whose vocal range spans from haunting melodies to fierce growls, VINTERSEA delivers heavy, emotionally powerful and technically intriguing music that is undeniably inspired by the majesty of the Pacific Northwest. A series of visually-compelling music videos that communicate the inspirations behind “Illuminated” – culminated by the blood, sweat, and tears put into bringing to life the vision conceived by VINTERSEA bassist Karl Whinnery for the central epic of the album, “Crack of Light,” featuring a set built by the band to accommodate a 40×40-foot pool and a 20-foot-long boat handmade specifically for the video – can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/vintersea.

VINTERSEA’s 2017 debut record, “The Gravity of Fall”, was also re-released in 2020 by the band’s record label, M-Theory Audio. The album was hailed by No Clean Singing upon its initial release as “dynamic and genre-bending,” and led to live performances alongside bands such as Arkona, Ne Obliviscaris, The Ocean, and Sirenia. The band’s debut is now available on vinyl for the first time, and can be purchased at smarturl.it/vinterseagravity.
