VOIVOD’S “SYNCHRO ANARCHY” NOMINATED FOR METAL/HARD MUSIC ALBUM OF THE YEAR AT 2023 JUNO AWARDS
The 2023 JUNO Awards Nomination Ceremony was hosted this morning at CBC Studios in Toronto, Ontario. Presented by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), the JUNOs have been celebrating Canadian music and Canadian musicians since 1971 and have evolved from an industry awards event to a weeklong festival that travels city to city across the country.
Nominated for the Metal/Hard Music Album Of The Year, is progressive sci-fi metal innovators VOIVOD’s “Synchro Anarchy” – which was released on February 11th, 2022 via Century Media Records. Like its predecessor, “The Wake”, which won the JUNO Award for the Metal/Hard Music Album Of The Year in 2019, “Synchro Anarchy” was produced by VOIVOD and Francis Perron, who also recorded and mixed the album. This marks the band’s third JUNO Award nomination and counting.
Hailing from the small town of Jonquière, Quebec, VOIVOD have been an active band for over 40 years and “Synchro Anarchy” is the 15th album they’ve continued to stay relevant with. They have done so by standing out both as unique visionaries and as proud subverters of the metallic norm for four decades.
