WAKE’S “THOUGHT FORM DESCENT” NOMINATED FOR METAL/HARD MUSIC ALBUM OF THE YEAR AT 2023 JUNO AWARDS!

This morning at CBC Studios in Toronto, Ontario, the JUNO Awards announced the nominees for the 2023 awards. Presented by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), the JUNOs have been celebrating Canadian music and Canadian musicians since 1971 and have evolved from an industry awards event to a weeklong festival that travels city to city across the country.

Nominated for the Metal/Hard Music Album Of The Year, is WAKE’s most recent release – “Thought Form Descent”, released July 22, 2022 via Metal Blade Records. Calgary, Alberta’s own WAKE has taken the heavy scene by storm since their humble beginnings back in 2009. Never a band interested in repeating themselves, WAKE has evolved with every release. 2020’s Devouring Ruin made this clearer than ever, they hammered the point home with the Confluence EP in the same year, and as the JUNO Awards appear to agree, Thought Form Descent is their most dynamic, diverse and emotional release to date.

Having released numerous EPs and six full-length albums and toured extensively including a recent performance at the sold-out Decibel Magazine Beer & Metal Festival in Denver, CO, there’s nothing but good things on the horizon for these metal powerhouses.

WAKE will be joining Khemmis and Conjurer in a North American tour starting April 21st in Minneapolis, MN, running through the USA and Canada and ending in Portland, OR May 20th. All tour dates listed below.
“I cannot think of a tour that we’ve done with a more diverse, unique, and riff-centric package than this one,” said Wake guitarist Rob LaChance.
