War Curse – ‘Eradication’

War Curse barged their way to the forefront of the thrash metal scene in 2015 with their excellent debut album ‘Final Days’ and whilst it has been far too long since the Ohio thrashers followed this up; the band are ready to release their sophomore album ‘Eradication’.
The lapse of time between albums has done nothing to dull the attack of War Curse and because of this ‘Eradication’ is just as sharp, if not sharper, than before. This album is a blistering assault of thrash metal riffs and pounding rhythms that would really appeal to old-school fans of Testament, with vocalist Blaine Gordon holding the fort with his raw Chuck Billy rasp that can be seen during tracks such as ‘Iron Veil’, ‘Deadly Silence’ and ‘Serpent’. For new-headbangers, War Curse really managed to invoke the thrash spirit of 1987; alongside bands such as Warbringer, Havok and Hatchet who in the past decade have managed carved a name for themselves amongst the metal elite. Furthermore, the pedigree of War Curse is expanded on with some excellent guest appearances from Kyle Thomas (Exhoarder), as well as Glen Alvelais (Forbidden) and Kragen Lum (Heathen).
‘Eradication’ is a welcome return for War Curse. What they have delivered with this album is a hugely enjoyable slab of primal thrash metal that even the classic established bands will have trouble keeping up with.
