UK rockers NIGHTBLADE return with their new album, Something To Say, on Friday 22nd January, preceded by their single and video, Harder To Console, out now. Following the critical success of their previous album, 5, including a string of 10/10 reviews, NIGHTBLADE knew they had a serious challenge on their hands. Rather than attempt to recreate the past album’s success, the band have taken things up a notch. Built around heavier riffs, muscular grooves, strong melodies and the band’s trademark left-field twists, Something To Say sees Nightblade sounding bigger, tougher and more assured, while retaining the alternative-rock edge and traditional rock foundations that have defined their sound.
Vocalist Mark Crosby admits the success of 5 brought added pressure: “Following the success of 5 and receiving 10/10 reviews, I probably felt more pressure than ever writing this album. Nightblade really had something to live up to.” The band, however, believe they’ve risen to the challenge. “We are all extremely pleased with Something To Say, and the consensus is that it equals, if not betters, 5.”
The first glimpse comes with Harder To Console, released alongside its new video on Friday 4th September. The album itself follows on Friday 22nd January. True to form, NIGHTBLADE have also thrown an unexpected curveball into the tracklisting, with a cover that even the band might not have predicted when they started out: “Who would ever have thought ABBA was on the cards…?”
Since their return in 2020 with Ignorance Is Bliss, NIGHTBLADE have maintained a relentless creative momentum, following it with Unknown Territories, Hope To Be There, That’s The Way You Want It and 5. Along the way, they have established themselves as one of the UK’s most prolific independent rock acts, earning widespread support across the rock press and radio. For NIGHTBLADE, the next chapter is ready to begin. “There’s some serious work gone into this album – now we cross our fingers and hope for the best.”
