NON SERVIAM – French Avant-Garde Collective Premiere New Video For “Victory to Kali” (ft. Mirai Kawashima of Sigh) Via Decibel Magazine

French avant-garde collective Non Serviam have unveiled a brand new video for “Victory to Kali” (ft. Mirai Kawashima of Sigh), taken from the band’s upcoming full-length La Lune Dont Mon Âme Est Pleine, set to be released on June 12 via Lay Bare Recordings.

The video is now streaming via Decibel Magazine, who had high praise for the track, stating: “On their latest single, ‘Victory to Kali,’ […] they blenderize ear-scrape black metal with an unrelenting industrial blast beat and top it off with some larynx-destroying vokills from Mirai Kawashima of Sigh. You get a full blast of extreme noise terror in a quick three minute explosion.”

The band had this to say about the track and the accompanying video: “After writing some lyrics inspired by Ramprasad Sen’s poems and a few riffs inspired by destruction and chaos, we reached out to Mirai from Sigh to ask him to contribute to the track. To us, he’s a guiding figure, one of our major inspirations, a true genius, and a legendary presence in the extreme music scene we love. In just a few days, everything was wrapped up thanks to Mirai’s efficiency, and we can’t thank him enough for his effectiveness and talent.

Depictions of Kali are fascinating; their freedom and their joyful yet destructive deviance call for dance, for she herself always seems to be dancing. That is why we filmed this music video over the course of nine months, as our dancer Ilse (from the duo Pourchasse Carcasse, who dances to our music live and in our videos) went through her pregnancy. Kali frees us from the fear of destruction, which is the true beginning of emancipation, since behind all powers there is always the threat that disobeying them will lead to oblivion, barbarism, hell, or something else; thus, freeing oneself from the fear of destruction is opening the path to emancipation.”

This new video follows the video for lead single Abject Sacrifice, which premiered via Cvlt Nation, and the second video“Déesse Morte”, which debuted at No Clean Singing.

Five years after Le Cœur Bat (2021), and more than a decade after Un Petit peu d’amour Pour la Haine, this new album stands as a major step forward in the band’s evolution. After a prolific run of EPs, splits, and mini-albums, Non Serviam return with a full-length work that pushes further the sonic and aesthetic direction unveiled on Le Cœur Bat, now refined through experimentation and artistic evolution.

La Lune Dont Mon Âme Est Pleine is a symbolist concept album centered on the myth of Diana and Actaeon, exploring themes of the desire for the absolute, the violence it engenders, and the melancholy that follows. These ideas permeate the album’s compositions, shaping both the music and the lyrical narratives. Beyond the metamorphosed and tormented figure of Actaeon, the album also draws on historical and mythological figures such as Émile Henry, the late-19th-century French anarchist, and the apocalyptic goddess Kali, invoked through a powerful vocal appearance by Mirai Kawashima (Sigh).

With La Lune Dont Mon Âme Est Pleine, Non Serviam continue their artistic trajectory, delivering a work that is ambitious, confrontational, and emotionally intense, further pushing the boundaries between extreme music, experimental composition, and avant-garde art. The album will be released on June 12 via Lay Bare Recordings. Vinyl pre-orders are available here, while digital, CD, and tape editions can be ordered here.
