Ohrenfeindt – In the name of Rock
Location: Grünspan Hamburg
Date: 26th December 2025
Another year is coming to an end. And once again, a wonderful tradition is being upheld: the end-of-year concert by Hamburg rockers Ohrenfeindt. Contrary to last year’s announcement, this year’s venue was once again the Grünspan in Hamburg’s St. Pauli district. As is often the case with planning, panta rhei (from the ancient Greek for ‘everything flows’). Once again, lots of fans turned up to celebrate their own Christmas party. All photos from this evening can be viewed on Flickr.
And they were treated to quite a show. The support band that evening also hails from Hamburg – Night Laser. And they really got the fans going with their Glam Metal. I was last able to witness their live qualities at the Heathen Rock Festival 2019. They showed that they can rock out even without an audience during the Corona pandemic. Although their current album, ‘Call Me What You Want,’ was released more than one year ago, four of the eight songs were from their latest long player. It was a real Glam Rock/Metal spectacular. Personnel change that evening: the regular guitarist, Felipe Martinez, had flown to Colombia to spend the holidays with his family. He was very well represented by Bolivian Karl Mack.
Lineup Night Laser:
Benno Bankers – Vocals
Robert Hankers – Bass, Vocals
Ingemar Oswald – Drums. Backing Vocals
Karl Mack – Guitar (stepped in for Felipe Martinez)
Track list:
- Laserhead
- Bittersweet Dreams
- Street King
- Trouble
- Chaos Crew
- Way To The Thrill
- Don’t Call Me Hero
- Laser Train

Another wonderful tradition is the auction in aid of the Sternenbrücke children’s hospice. Ohrenfeindt has been supporting this institution with donations for many years. Thousands of Euros have already been donated. Together with Viktor Hacker, singer and bassist Chris Laut auctioned off an Ohrenfeindt crew jacket this time. Many banknotes changed hands from the fans’ wallets to Chris Laut’s cap, which was carried through the rows in front of the stage by the band’s tour manager.
Shortly before half past nine, the two-hour Ohrenfeindt show kicked off with the triple pack ‘Komm schon und hols Dir’ (Come on and get it), ‘Motor An’ (Engine on) and ‘Porschekiller’ (Porsche killer). Later, several songs from the current album ‘Wenn der Teufel anruft’ (2024) (When the Devil Calls) were also played, such as ‘Im Namen des Rocks’ (In the Name of Rock), after which the current tour was named, and the album’s title track. Of course, classics such as ‘Auf die Fresse ist umsonst’ (A Punch in the Face is Free), ‘Sie hat ihr Herz an St. Pauli verloren’ (She Lost Her Heart to St. Pauli) and ‘Es wird Tag auf St. Pauli’ (Daybreak in St. Pauli) were not missing either. Chris Laut repeatedly encouraged the fans to sing along. And another classic (‘Strom’ (Electricity)) ended the regular part of the evening. But that wasn’t the end of it. The fans demanded an encore. And this followed with ‘Tanz nackt’ (Dance Naked) and the band’s anthem “Ohrenfeindt”. What I missed, however, was the outro ‘In Hamburg sagt man Tschüss’ (In Hamburg They Say Tschüss by Heidi Kabel), during which the musicians bowed deeply to their fans. This tradition was therefore not continued.

Well, then the show was over. The musicians from Ohrenfeindt invited everyone to an after-show party at Sorgenbrecher (Hamburger Berg). But we made our way home on dangerously slippery roads. Oh, and one more tradition. Once again this year, I would like to thank everyone involved – the musicians from Night Laser and Ohrenfeindt, the bands’ crews and the staff at Grünspan. They made another great evening possible. So here’s to Christmas 2026, wherever the concert may take place.
