Portuguese band Sanctus Nosferatu have released their new single, “Axioma”, continuing the new phase that began with “1.E4”. The track revisits the character Samca and tells a story marked by obsession, violence, and an apparently endless cycle in which the line between hunter and victim begins to disappear. The band further develops its blend of Thrash, Death, and Black Metal with elements of Modern Metal, this time accompanying the narrative with a dense, aggressive atmosphere that places the listener at the center of this nightmare.

Formed in 2002 on São Miguel Island, in Portugal’s Azores archipelago, Sanctus Nosferatu built its identity within extreme music through elements of Thrash, Death, and Black Metal, combining heaviness, atmosphere, and dark themes in its compositions. The band officially began its recording career with the promo track “Revelation”, released in 2006, and went on to release its debut album, “SAMCA”, in 2012.

Over the years, Sanctus Nosferatu have maintained an aggressive sound and a strong conceptual dimension in their compositions, establishing their place within the European underground while exploring different influences from extreme music. Following “1.E4”, the track that marked the beginning of their current phase and used a chess opening as a metaphor for manipulation, control, and alienation, “Axioma” deepens this new direction with a narrative more focused on psychological horror and the boundaries between violence, identity, and perception.

Sanctus Nosferatu’s current lineup features Nuno Carreiro on bass, Rúben Ferreira and João Raposo on guitars, and Brazilian vocalist Jota Fortinho.

“Axioma” was mixed and mastered by Tiago Alves at Waveyard Studio. The visuals were created by Jota Fortinho and Stepan Kobyakin, with editing by Jota Fortinho. The lyrics were written by Nuno Carreiro.
