Against Evil were founded in 2014 in Visakhapatnam (state of Andhra Pradesh, India). And have been active with the same line-up ever since. They have released two albums, one live album, one EP and one single so far. I found the predecessor ‘End Of The Line’ extremely successful. The quartet also impressed me live as support for Bullet. Classic, authentic Heavy Metal. Naturally, I was really looking forward to the third album ‘Give ‘Em Hell’.

‘Lock ‘N Load’ is a 45-second intro. But fortunately, not with the usual orchestral gimmicks, no, quite the opposite, with hard guitar melodies. So thumbs up for this intro. A strong introduction to the title track ‘Give ‘Em Hell’. And this is where Against Evil show us where to go. Straightforward, thundering Heavy Metal. The raspy voice of M Sravan Chakravarthi goes well with this. And then there’s an unrivalled guitar solo. ‘Full Speed Ahead’ offers exactly what the title promises. High-speed Metal par excellence! ‘Warriors’ is then a little slower and very rhythmic. A great Metal anthem. ‘Stay Dead!’ tends towards the high-speed range again. A thunderstorm of riffs drives this song. There is also a refrain that you can quickly sing along to. ‘Lights Out’ is another great Metal anthem. But then the accelerator pedal is pressed down again. ‘Hellfire’ is the next banger, again dominated by fast riffing. The Indians also set a fast pace on ‘Creature of Night’, driven by the hellish drumming. The crowning glory is another guitar solo. And just as the album began, so it ends, at high speed. The final song ‘Killing Machine’ closes the circle. With another riff thunderstorm, among other things.

With ‘Give ‘Em Hell’, Against Evil have released another killer album. This is pure Heavy Metal the way it should sound. A worthy release for the band’s tenth anniversary. A clear recommendation to buy. The only downer is its short length of just 32 minutes.
