The name is a concept. The two metal enthusiasts Tim “Tetzel” Schmidt (singer of the band Asenblut) and Antonio Calanna (former singer of the Hard Rock band DeVicious) founded this project in 2022 to indulge their love, Heavy Metal. But since two singers alone are not enough for a full Metal sound, they got some musician friends on board. All For Metal was born. And already in July 2023, the debut album “Legends” was released.
The opener is called exactly like the project – “All For Metal”. With Manowar memory riffs. The song titles could also come from the great American Trve Metal band, like the high-speed song “Goddess Of War” or the ode to war god Odin “Born In Valhalla”. Also “Raise Your Hammer” comes from Norse mythology and is dedicated to Thor, the god of thunder, who lets his famous hammer circle here. In “Hear The Drum” you can clearly hear the war drums and war chants. In “Run” the Vikings run down everything in their path. “Prophecy of Hope” is a narrative interlude where a Nordic shield maiden can be heard. The last words already announce the next song “Mountain of Power”. After a short epic keyboard introduction, the song stomps along powerfully. After the powerful Metal anthem “Fury of the Gods” and “The Day of Hammerfall” dominated by Heavy Metal riffs, the ballad “Legends Never Die” follows at the end. A deep bow to the forefathers of Trve Metal.
Even though the good old Manowar sounds shine through again and again, All For Metal are not a simple copy. They succeed in convincingly lifting the early Manowar sound into the present. And in my opinion, the album is better than the current releases of the band around bassist Joey DeMaio. An ode to true metal. Recorded by excellent musicians.
