Cobra Spell are an up-and-coming band with an international line-up. Formed in 2019 by guitarists Sonja “Anubis” Nusselder (Crypta, ex-Burning Witches) and Sebastian “Spyder” Silva (Unto Others, Silver Talon). This Dutch/Mexican collaboration strengthened with musicians from Italy, France and the Netherlands. One year later, the first EP “Love Venom” was released. In the meantime, Sebastian is no longer an active band member. However, he is still involved in the band’s activities and songwriting, as a “silent member” so to speak. Thus, the current EP “Anthems Of The Night” was recorded without him on guitar.

As if out of the blue, the riffs of “Addicted To The Night” literally smash into the listener’s ears. The best Glam Metal/Rock from the eighties. In addition, outstanding melodic lines. Singer Alexx Panza has the right voice to perform this authentically. And Sonia contributes fantastic guitar solos. She is one of the greats of her profession. On “The Midnight Hour”, the quintet stomps blithely along. In the best Rock’n’Roll tradition. The melodic “Steal My Heart Away” impresses with sing-along choruses with high metal screams. In addition, driving riffs fired as if from the hip. And, of course, one would like to say, more outstanding guitar solos. A starting engine at the beginning of “Accelerate”. What follows is a high-speed par force ride.

Unfortunately, it ends after less than twenty minutes. In the author’s opinion, this could go on for hours. With this quality, this joy of playing, many other bands have to warm up. For Cobra Spell there can only be one direction. Upwards. To the Metal Olympus!
